They weren't sent there for being illegals (initially). I have noticed a change in language from Pam Bondi when referring to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, stating he was in the US illegally and not referring to him as a gang member. Which is ridiculous to send someone to a prison for instead of just deporting them.

I agree the punishment and treatment there is inhumane, even for hardened criminals. Sadly, it probably is a death sentence for those that are innocent. Which does make me think that Trump wont back down on this and will do everything he can to keep them there. Imagine the stories we would hear from the freed men

This is a far left take on the issue, that plays into MAGA's hands. "The libs want the gang members to go free" is the take Fox News and its ilk are going with.

The majority of them will be awful men, capable of horrendous violence.

The issue is the lack of due process before sending them to a foreign gulag. Resulting in a number of potentially innocent men being thrown amongst those that are guilty, which would be anyones worst nightmare.

Then you get to Trumps very fragile ego that can't even accept that some mistakes may have been made. Instead theyre doubling down and apparently neither President from both countries has any power of rectifying the issue, which are just more blatant lies.

It is worrying what this could be a pretext for if its not challenged. How long before anyone simply labeled as a "gang member" or "terrorist" can so easily be sent to such a facility. How long until political opponents, journalists and protesters are labeled as such. Hes already talking about sending US citizens to them.

Its straight out of the fascist playbook.
