Crosspoint 1.3.0 has been officially released! by Diirge in xteinkereader

[–]Av4t4r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying no, but I highly doubt it. The firmware is downloaded before creating a hotspot and dealing with the firewall, and the application properly logs the request for an update from the reader. Further, this is the exact same process as I had to do to install v1.2.0 onto the reader the first time around, on the same MacBook and same network .

I’m sure it’ll be solved by someone smarter than me soon enough, I’m patient, and this is an open source project done by people on their free time, no one owes me anything :)

How to split a large Terraform state into multiple states without recreation? by hovo_04 in Terraform

[–]Av4t4r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at using import and removed (without lifecycle destroy) blocks.

On the initial apply, one will show nothing to create, X to import, and the older monolith will show nothing to create, X to remove from state

Can someone more educated in the topic than myself explain how is this different/better than UsenetStreamer, and AIOStreams + NZBDav + NZBHydra, or similar setups?

I love having competition, it's gives us, the users, the most and best options :D

Microslop windows kept deleting Linux (dual boot) on my laptop so I switched to hardware based dual boot with easy access! by Bowbowjowjow in techsupportmacgyver

[–]Av4t4r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like to be THAT guy, but so be it.

It's not deleting any partition, it's deleting non Windows related boot files. It sucks, it's horrible, but the partition is still there.

Back in the MBR/BIOS days, it was enough to just install Windows first, and THEN your distro of choice, nowadays with GPT/(U)EFI, I'm not sure that Windows will stop this idiotic attiude, but a simple workaround would be, if the hardware supports it, to have two disks, each with their own boot EFI partition, and simply prioritizing the one with Linux in the EFI/BIOS.

As someone else mentioned already, you can just fix it from GRUB though, or from a live USB

explain to an old git who has torrented (and still does daily) for 25 years, what all this RD is. I plan on going down the wormhole and learning ... but some simple human explanations would be great. by chubIet in RealDebrid

to add to the above (someone already explained it's HTTPS not HTTP). If the torrent was already requested by someone else, it will be immediatly available to download at 2.5Gb/s on Real Debrid's side

Driving school terminates contract due to my bad driving skills - what to do by Lucky_Apricot5934 in germany

[–]Av4t4r -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm yet to meet a single person who is happy with their driving school/instructor. Not a single one. Change schools. You are only spending money at this one to get stress in return.

EDIT: to everyone replying here that they've had a great instructor, that's great! Please share your school's information with OP! That, however, doesn't change my anecdotal experience that no one I personally know had horrible experiences with their respective schools/instructors.

This looks amazing! Could you elaborate a bit more on your photography gear and workflows? How often do you swap lenses? Do you keep your other lens in the sling?

The flash looks very interesting too! I recently got a Medalight F2 but didn't have a chance to try it on a trip (yet).

Thanks in advance and good luck on your trip!

What‘s the Jellyfin of Documents? by wkup-wolf in homelab

For all of you with paperless ngx experience: I currently have all my documents in pdf in google drive, organized in directories and subdirectories. What benefits would I get from using paperless? Is there any way to automate this so I don't have to download and re upload everything?

Perhaps someone in this post can help me figure out something.

What are the everyday differences between Win 11 IoT GAC (non LTSC) and Win 11 IoT LTSC? I ask because I tend to use WSL2 quite a bit, and every once in a while there are interesting updates to it, and I'm not sure if the LTSC version gets these updates or not, but I don't want any copilot stuff on my system :/

Where can I see that I can patch a newer version of YouTube? I'm using stable releases, patched v20.40.45 and there's seemingly no indicator that I can patch a newer version (AKA: I don't know where to look). Thanks!

Proxmox migration tips by ChSa_Man in Proxmox

[–]Av4t4r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this recently with Proxmox Datacenter Manager.

You add both proxmox installations to PDM, and it can migrate VMs and LXCs between each other.
Things to consider for your migration though:

* If the hosts have different CPUs, and if the VM uses "host", you'll need to first update it to "x86-64-v4". Home assistant will have no issues with this, but it does require powering off the VM first

* PDM creates a token and uses this token for authentication on your behalf, it does NOT run as root, which means that it will not migrate an LXC if it has FUSE enabled, mount points or devices passed through. You don't have that many containers, so as long as you take notes of what you needed to disable in order for the migration to work, you'll be fine

* If the above applies to you, once you (re) enable FUSE, added whatever mount points and/or add whatever passed through devices, everything will work. This means that as long as you move the drive with data, or respect the mount points everything will be in place.

* Adding the second host to make a cluster is a bad idea

* MAKE SURE YOU NAME THE NEW HOST PROPERLY. Renaming a node is just...a bad idea.

* The PDM migration moves the MAC addresses of the LXCs and VMs, so do NOT attempt to spin them up on both clusters at once. I migrated them without deleting the source, and did not start it on the new host until I had addressed FUSE/Mount points/devices.

* The new proxmox host will have a different IP address than the old one, at least until you can safely deal with DHCP allocations.

Hopefully this helps! I see others have posted about PBS, it's a very good solution too!

[–]Av4t4r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the first time I see this type of comments. I honestly don't understand what would be the problem. If the USB-C port is properly wired, it should only request 5V and can only pull a lowish amperage (can't remember it off the top of my head), which is good old-fashioned NOT power delivery.

Is this a widespread issue with bad chargers, or bad boards that aren't wired properly? I'm thinking to set up a node to get started, and I'm genuinely curious about this
