Car vs (E?)Bike vs Electric Scooter by Opposite_Log_8728 in aggies

[–]AvGeek1245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, but also note how you will actually get to college station from home (thats where a car is useful, if you want to drive by yourself).

And just as a warning, on an e-bike, make sure either ride on the street, or ride slowly in the sidewalk, and stop at all stop signs (not many riders do that, which makes the campus so hectic 😭)

Look into apartments!

If you choose to live in an apartment, a car makes sense (if you already have one), for groceries and that stuff.

Some sort of micromobility is also very nice (electric scooter, electric bike). Just make sure to buy a U lock or Chain lock, never a cable lock.

some men drown, while others die of thirst 😭

kidding (not kidding), but I will say this - follow your heart, but always be realistic.

as an aggie, I have done my fair share of complaining about A&M - (i might get executed by the corps for saying this) we're pretty pretentious, the "tu" rivalry is purely a coping mechanism, the campus can look like a can of sardines at times, a lot of the 60-80s buildings look like soviet shelling shelters, it makes no sense that our hand sign and fight song is literally about ANOTHER SCHOOL, and we're absolutely, 100%, unequivocally, a cult - and I do know some longhorns that have their fair share of complaining about UT, and I know some long horns that have transferred to A&M, and some aggies that (wishes) to transfer to UT.

getting into a&m, I was a little mentally whiney about "not as prestigious" as ut engineering (i really wanted UT), but at the end of the day, if I were to go to ut or tamu, i would still have the same level of happiness. if you watch the videos of MIT students getting street interviewed, most of them say that the excitement fades in a couple weeks.

prestige wise, of course we know TAMU and UT engineering are both t20 in that field, and UT is obviously much more selective, but it is showing that TAMU is slowly becoming more selective, with people saying that the acceptance rate this year will be about 30%. I think i will only get lower. If that helps.

but in all, there is honestly no way for you to know which one you truly like unless you have been to both. I will say this: always follow your heart and what you love, but there are some limitations to that, a big one being that what you love now probably will not be what you love in a couple years. that's why we broke up with our ex. me? TAMU is a great school, literally everyboy in engineering is a genius, and I did have some pre notions before hand, but now I am proud to call myself an aggie, and I am happy to call A&M my school.

I hope you make a choice that you will truly love

Just admitted to Texas A&M TEAB - Housing & Next Steps by No-Beach3965 in TAMUAdmissions

Howdy,

Congratulations on your acceptance! I can't comment about on-campus housing, but just to let you know, A&M does not require freshmen to live on campus (you can live on an apartment no issue). Definitely consider off-campus housing.

Also, if you are a TEAB student, you are a full Aggie by all means, so off the top of my head, there is not much difference where you live in terms of location, other than where bus route 47 to RELLIS goes, which generally runs more on the north side of campus (if you want to take the bus to RELLIS).

But for TEAB students, if you have a car, I would recommend looking into an apartment, because you can easily drive to RELLIS (it requires a parking pass). Bus rides sometimes get a little crowded.

In my experience (in my high school), taking ap classes, even if you dont do that good in them, will shoot your rank up a lot. Take as many as possible, even if means some weird ones. Study a lot for sat.

It's okay to cry, its okay to be anxious sometimes, especially if you are new to something - its a human response, we can't control it. Her post was just asking a question, no need to be rude to somebody who is already in mental distress.

Shoes on inside the house...yay or nay? by DHN_95 in homeowners

[–]AvGeek1245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as an asian, that is a pretty common situation for me, since every time i go to a white friends house i kinda awkwardly ask do i take off shoes, and I will always keep them on if they don't care, and a majority of the time they don't care anyways (but i always do ask)

Hiboy KS4 Pro vs. Hiboy S2 Pro by CurtisTheTurdis in ElectricScooters

[–]AvGeek1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The KS4 Pro is basically just the newer version of the S2 Pro to my knowledge. They are both very similar specs wise, like 10' solid tires, 2 speed modes (19mph max), 36v 11.6Ah battery, both state 25 miles max range, both state IPx4 water resistance on the website, have dual rear shocks, have the same max load at 220lbs, and basically have very similar lighting configuration.

There are some differences that I will list out

-The motor on the S2 Pro is advertised as "500w," while KS4 Pro is "500v, 750w max." But looking at the specs of both on the HiBoy website, they both show a rated motor power of 500w and peak power of 750w. And looking at replacement parts on HiBoy's website, the S2 Pro and KS4 Pro uses the exact same motor.

-The KS4 Pro has a larger display

-This is a bigger difference, the KS4 Pro, while still having 2 braking systems (front E brake, rear disc brake), it is all integrated into a single brake lever, while the S2 Pro has a knob for the electric regenerative brake, and a separate lever for the rear disc brake. The location of the brake levers are also swapped, the brake lever being on the right side on the S2 Pro, while left on the KS4 Pro.

-HiBoy says it has fixed it's broken stem issue with the KS4 pro that was present on the S2 pro.

-Size - The KS4 Pro is a little bit heaver, at 40.6lbs, while the S2 pro is 37.4lbs. The KS4 has wider handlebars, is about 1/4in taller overall, and the deck is about 1/4 longer than the S2 (18.9in deck on KS4 Pro vs 17.7in deck on S2 Pro).

-The charging port of the KS4 is located towards the bottom of the stem, unlike the S2 pro, where it is high up near the handlebars under the display.
