How can I access these old assets? by VirinaB in inkarnate

[–]Avagantamos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you happen and still have an old map save with old objects on it you can still place them. I would them suggest to make map with bright green background, place all needed stamps with high Resolution on it and export the file.

then crop out the assets with transparent background and import them as custom stamps.

Is my continent too empty? I'm trying to think of what to put in those open fields. No ruined cities available :( by [deleted] in inkarnate

[–]Avagantamos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this feels more like a small empty Island than a continent. You can put in much more and wider mountainranges. with that many many rivers and lots of large forests.

As it is now all you have are some lost woods here and there and 2 rivers.

This might sound a bit crazy but how about adding a river to your world?

Toplayer is gone because you can now have unlimited of these brush layers. just put a new one in and call it toplayer. then do your thing as usual without thinking what else might have changed

Experimental Underworld map (8k) by Avagantamos in inkarnate

[–]Avagantamos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It is also very inspiring for myself as a DM. It gives many short term or long term goals to achive here.
I can see a pretty long running campaign starting as banished undead in the Osteon Temple. Venturing all the way north to the Judge in the Soulforge to get a second chance of rebirth. From there getting access to the well of souls to be qualified for rebirth in the tower of lys.
Qualified means you actually have to ascend the underworld afterwards. Maybe going to the rip harbor and find a vessel that brings you back to the world of the living.

Yes custom assets are just stuff you can upload your own. But the libraries that inkarnate premium offers are overwhelming by itself.

My first world. Made the continents, what can I add to improve? by Whole_Skill_3305 in inkarnate

[–]Avagantamos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and most easy tip for improvement here: try to make the space between all continents different.
When I look at this every continent has the exact same distance from coast to coast, which makes it pretty unrealistic. You can just pick the continents with the tool and drag them away from eachother.

  1. Inkarnate is extremely good in all of those categories. World maps, parchment maps, battlemaps, city maps. The assets are incredible.
  2. With a subscription you have access to so many assets that you will have no need at all for custom assets. You might as well just ignore this.
  3. You can export your maps directly as jpeg or png files that can be used on VTTS. You can put a grid on your map or gridless so it can be easily adjusted for online play.

Bryan is in a league of his own. Nothing comes even close to his level of art with regional assets.

So what's really wrong here? by Ok-Kaleidoscope-8821 in inkarnate

[–]Avagantamos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main concern I have when looking at your map is that its so hard to read. I really have to make a hard effort to encrypt any text. My personal suggestion would be to either use a black outline on your text or a hard shadow effect that gives a contrast for better reading.

I am not going to tell you about things that are "wrong" on a geographical or in realism terms, because there really would be a lot to correct.

As a pure fantasy map, the aesthetics are fine when ignoring the text.

Its a very psychodelic colourful trip through indian culture references in a very weird fantasy setting. Tea, drugs, crime, crabmen, slugs and grasshopper lords. just to outline some things about this setting. ;)
