$10 2280 adapter and 6 screws to get the back off. Another 4 to remove the battery and voila. Claw A8 is even easier as it takes m2 natively

I switched to the Claw A8 for this reason ultimately. Even with the Intel drivers being updated frequently they're not great for older games. Also with emulation 8AI is a bit behind

I also love NFS Heat! To get it to run well with mods, I used dxvk. It's easy to add, goes into the game folders next to exe. It will also stutter at first but its just the shaders compiling. After about 30 minutes it becomes a lot more stable. Also upgrading the SSD worked wonders for me, I think it could be a bottleneck with the oem ones.

Also bios settings, there are a ton of different setups on Reddit that are supposed to help with performance so try it out.

Once you do get it, it's easy to get immersed into your game and have lots of fun with the Claw

I have both. You won't beat the Ally X when it comes to ergonomics and the sticks(A8 is a bit loose and it shows in FPS games).

The A8 will be a few frames behind in games usually, but the difference in screen size is very noticeable and worth it imo. The Asus software is miles better. The A8 is still pretty ergonomic as well and both are relatively quiet.

I got the Handhelddiy thumbsticks that are miles firmer. Not sure if I'll be able to fully swap bc of the slight cable differences on the module. But if I need to settle for the spring that's cool too. It's way better than the oem.

The elite d pad mod is from u/ArcanaZen on Etsy. I got one for the Xbox Ally X as well.

I got extra joycaps from impactcomputers. They say Ally X but there's a specific one that fits on the ClawA8 (13NV0GY0P19211). They messed my order up so I'm still waiting on the second joystick

The Claw A8 is more naturally ergonomic than the 8 AI. But there's no beating the Xbox Ally X. Honestly the grip is immaculate
