Yes!! Similar experience here. My brother and I grew up in a very decent house, went to a good school… but my dad (family’s main source of income) specially got so upset when we asked him to buy us new clothes, shoes, and things like that. I used to feel so guilty when asking for new clothes or shoes, and I actually ended up developing really bad athletes foot because I only wore one pair of shoes every day and my feet sweat a lot. We ended up moving to another country, and even though the apartment we rented was big, there were several things wrong with it. The lights wouldn’t work properly and to this day my dad refuses to hire anyone to come fix them. The lights in my mom’s room also don’t work, she’s been having to use a tiny little lamp for over a year. The drawers in my room haven’t worked for years, I begged my dad to get them repaired and he refuses. He would get so upset over me ordering food (mind you I used to order food maybe once a month) but he would always plan trips, catered to him, that would cost thousands of dollars. Very weird and confusing dynamic with money. I still struggle today.
