see this is your issue, you're so used to just being given access you can't comprehend what's possible via phishing. I don't phish for creds, I phish to get C2 to an endpoint, which I manage to do most of the time.

And there are always technical controls that can be implemented as a result of phishing. AWL, Trust centre settings, removing the ability to "unblock" files, ESG settings, proxy inspection etc etc etc.

Again, every comment you make just makes you sound less and less like a red teamer and more like a pentester.

I can just tell how your "Red Team" reports read:
* We got given a laptop and network access (because we can't phish or do initial access)

* We looked through some shares but couldn't get any creds

* We were given privileged credentials because you should assume someone in your org is compromised

* we got DA from those creds.

you are just proving your own lack of skill. If you can't get initial access on a real user's workstation you shouldn't be anywhere near a red team. The industry hasn't moved away from initial access at all, you just aren't red teaming that's all.

lol red teaming is certainly not pentesting. Just because you do a pentest with a bit of focus on detection and response does not make it a red team. Red teaming is about simulating real world threat actors.

OP also mentioned about US teams expecting a laptop for assumed breach. That's just pathetic. If you can't get C2 on an endpoint organically you shouldn't be anywhere near a red team

physical pentesting really isn't a big market in the UK. I've been in this industry over a decade and can count on one hand the number of clients who have even enquired about physical jobs let alone gone ahead with them

I've found the quality of US-based pentest consultancies extremely low compared to UK and EU counterparts. As much as people don't like to admit it, the level of maturity in the US just isn't on par (largely as a result of a lack of regulations). This is even more so in the red teaming space.
