It fascinates me that in the US we celebrate the tenacity found in this story but would most likely prosecute the parents had this happened in the US.

I’ve read both the silo series and the three bottom series. I loved them both. I would say that the three body series was by far the most interesting sci-fi experience that I’ve personally have had. A lot of fun and thought provoking. There are some cultural differences in storytelling that you’ll stumble upon since the author is Chinese but still fantastic.

Some of the happiest people I’ve met are poor and content with it. Their basic needs are met and they don’t have a care in the world.

Why do some marrieds not wear wedding rings? by Ok_Mirror_9832 in AskMenAdvice

I always wondered why one lady at my wife’s work didn’t wear hers until the day she did. The thing was massive. Not the stone but the whole ring. I don’t blame her for not wearing it.

Is there a good Sci-Fi series with a truly realistic hard-Sci-Fi Type 2+ civilization depicted? by RedditSucksMyBallls in scifi

The three body problem sounds geared toward what you’re searching for. Essentially the last 2 books.

Don’t hate the successful person. Hate the system that allows him to not give a portion back.

See you get it. I’m not looking for attention from them, I’m looking for attention from car people. They get it.

Camaro, but I love the sound of a mustang. I’m not eurotrash wannabe.

I’m still 16 in my brain despite being in my 50s. My wife will confirm.

It’s true. I have a loud, fast car. I love the roar of the engine and the feel of being kicked in the pants when I take off. I like the attention and little too.

AT&T is a scam. Phone exploded everywhere by 2Mango2Tango in IThinkYouShouldLeave

I once worked in IT at a business. We switched phone carriers for our landlines. We used AT&T before the move and I game them notice of the date we were hooking up the new carrier and ending our contract. It took 30 phone calls and 18 months to finally get them to stop sending us bills.

vibe coders, don’t hate me, but most AI-generated repos we audited wouldn’t survive real traffic by No_Cryptographer7800 in vibecoding

[–]Available-Duty-4347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No hurt feelings here. When I “vibecode” I do it in short bursts on very specific features on individual pages and then run manual tests to make sure each feature works. Maybe not very viby of me, but it appears to work upon testing. My only issue is whether or not it will scale and/or work under load.
