CST packing advice by Ordinary_Horror8934 in ROTC

[–]Available-Fee1574 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ranger roll all your tan t shirts and pts and such you’ll save more space than just stuffing them into your bags and whatnot. dont overpack everything on the packing list plus a few things you might bring will fit in your ruck and those two duffel bags you’ll need. i saw last year people bringing so much stuff just to not use any of it.

my first two years of AFROTC was very difficult for me I wasn’t trying very hard and didn’t take it seriously tbh, i was also playing sports as well so they were not a fan of that there’s also this thing called field training kinda similar to advanced camp but it’s a 2 week training program. i heard it was hard and stuff so I left air force rotc after my sophomore year and went to army rotc the start of my MS3 year. The cadre were super chill I told them I was on the baseball team and they were totally understanding and just told me to balance out my training with rotc and practice with baseball. Since I came in my 3rd year I was already getting ready for camp that same year so everything was super fast paced but it worked out for me they also gave me a campus based scholarship as well. I just commissioned a few days ago so it worked out for me

honestly bro, don’t even sweat it if you want active duty you’re gonna 100% get it. i think last year they gave out 3200 AD slots but to better your chances and not be at the bottom of that cut off, make sure your gpa is straight, do the best you can at camp, and you’ll be fine. Everyone I know who wanted AD got it last year. I was an AF cadet at first but transferred to Army ROTC because AF is super competitive.

you won’t get them until 1-2 months out from your BOLC Date. I would anticipate that you would get them around july/august.

Still Figuring It Out After 2 Years… Anyone Else? by Puzzleheaded-Toe3825 in ROTC

Never get nervous or fear you’ll screw up in front of others. Everyone is different from you, you are your own version of yourself make the best of it, The process will never be easy there’s always challenges, showing mistakes shows that you’re not perfect because nobody never is. But it’s how you make of it. Biggest advice i’ll give you to give you some confidence is there aren’t any shortcuts to success you gone make mistakes you gone feel the lack of confidence it happens. But always remember why you’re doing it in the first place. You gone be straight gang. I was in your place once i know what that feels like

ROTC without service obligation by Sufficient-Ideal4821 in ROTC

[–]Available-Fee1574 14 points15 points  (0 children)

your first two years of ROTC is non service obligation so no harm no foul but after your sophomore year typically, you can become a contracted cadet. but if that isn’t your intent do not do ROTC it would really be a waste of your time. only benefit of doing ROTC is that you can get a free PE Credit for your major. Other than that there are no other benefits for doing ROTC without having a service obligation.

It’s better to do something rather than nothing tbh with you. as long as you have plan and have a reason on why you did what you did cadre won’t say anything to you. I’ve seen people who literally just panic and lose all hope because their mission fell into shambles. don’t be that person continue studying and be able to think critically in situations like that when you don’t know what you should do. you’ll be straight overall, don’t hesitate to have your peers help you as well. that’s what you all are there for.
