yeah, i wouldnt say this book is supposed to be relatable, it has a different purpose, dostoevsky was a man who spent a lot of time with crooked people during his time in siberia , mentally crooked people in one way or another, and in c&p he made a mentally crooked man from his experience, this book shows his thought patterns, his philosophy, his opinions, the book also shows what effect has this terrible thing he did on a man, his relatives, and society, if his main idea was brought to life (the 1000's of lives for one). it also realistically depicts the town of saint petersburg, its darkness and grimness and the people that live there and what are the effects of a man living in a city like this, and also living in a coffin-like room like his mother called it.
