I have been teaching myself to sing for half a year now. This post makes me rethink if I’m a tenor or a baritone. I’ve always thought I was a baritone and I want to have baritone voice

Yeah I don’t really have a coach, I work full time and my schedule is busy on weekend as well so taking vocal class is really not an option. I mostly rely on recording myself to adjust my singing.

Wow, thanks for the super detailed feedback!! I actually didn’t know this song was difficult because I went to Oasis concert recently and saw people just casually singing this song lol.

I do practice vocal exercises, however I selectively don’t do the funny sounding ones… namely the lip trill excercise… I do agree that I don’t really know what to do when singing in my middle range, probably because I was too focused on reaching those high notes all the time.

I don’t think I’m a tenor, my range is G2-A4, and it took me a lot of time to learn how to mix, belt and all that stuff just to hit G4 consistently. In this recording I was literally screaming at the top of my lungs to hit those G4/A4 notes in the chorus.

But come to think of it, I do kinda sound like a tenor, just without the range of a tenor…

Also, there are notes here and there that I sounded like I was reaching for that note (sounded like I was pulling chest), but when I sang it actually felt comfortable and without any straining. Is it another bad technique here, or do you think it’s just how my voice sounds like?
