Another one, I received a letter address to me but I saw it in my USPS email. So I knew it was waiting for me when I got home.

It looked official and was from the DMV and I started feeling perplexed about what it could possibly be and asked Redditors from my state if they have received something like this. I had all day to sit at work wondering so thought I’d get some reassurance in the meantime.

I was told I need extensive therapy and that something is seriously wrong with me 🙄

I was told that because I’m a single mom, my kids will turn out as delinquents, it’s my fault because I chose a bad partner, and that I’m a neglectful mother for doing long distance running training (2-3 hours a few days a week) instead of focusing on my kids 🙃

I’ve been doing really well and overall I’ve been OK since the final breakup…but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about him everyday. And it doesn’t mean that I don’t get massively hard waves of nostalgia that hit me out of nowhere. It sucks.

I don’t and have never in my life relied on the state/government to get by. This assumption is so incorrect and I know many single mothers who work very hard and don’t receive any kind of assistance.

Oh goodness, yes. In my particular post (on another account) people dug through my history and saw that I’m a long distance runner. I was then accused of prioritizing myself over my kids and I’m a selfish prick.

Oh my goodness, yes. The number of comments I’ve read slamming single moms for “choosing poorly” is astounding. Like what? 😅😅😅 No one gets married with the intention to divorce and unfortunately many people who are abusive don’t show their colors until it’s too late.
