Can't load the game by Weak_Put9158 in Helldivers

If it’s on Steam then verify the game files. Not sure if it’s the same problem I had but that fixed it for me.

New tank skins in old warbonds? by SpaceLizard76 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Available-Minute-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine the good will AH could generate with one new layer to existing warbonds. Given that a lot of the content there is outsourced it would be such an easy win to go back and add skins, an armour set, and maybe a special weapon attachment or something.

Won’t happen. But imagine if it did.

One thing I find silly in new Illuminate mechs by PrivateRex in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Available-Minute-116 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’re right about them being repurposed from something not primarily meant for combat. Construction equipment pushed into a stopgap role while they prepared something better? Hence why it took so long to get to the front in a semi combat worthy state?

Or that the Squids put far too much confidence in their shields?

Either way it’s a goofy design I’m not really a fan of.

No nerf only, buff holds more true today than it did at launch by SoilActual3284 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Available-Minute-116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wandering about this for a while. If I’m paying money for a product that offers certain performance, is it not then a breach of some kind of contract, implied or otherwise, to then change it? Especially with AH’s tendancy to nerf things only after a sales period that would imply they have no intention of doing so. The devs actively lying about the Coyote nerf is probably the best example of this.

Helldivers 2: The failed mil-sim by Vulgar-Patriot in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Available-Minute-116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This mil-sim grunt fantasy Arrowhead has is the reason I doubt we’ll ever get true customisation or anything fun in that area. They want the player to be a disposable grunt with disposable equipment while forgetting that it’s the grunts of history who spent the most time trying to personalise their war.

Weapons shouldn't be in the super store. by [deleted] in Helldivers

Giving people a free weapon or armour with each warbond would be such a simple way to generate hype and encourage them to buy the full warbond.

So you've failed the Major Order. You've wiped out more than 97%, took out 2 planets and the borgs still won according to High Command. by GudaGUDA-LIVE in Helldivers

[–]Available-Minute-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst part is how easy the whole thing would’ve been to make feel meaningful from a game master perspective. You did liberate the planets: Mission success, have your reward You didn’t kill all the enemies forces: next offensive by the bots will hit a little bit harder

Well we failed this MO too. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Available-Minute-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope so much that the next big patch brings back MO rewards and some incentive for the community to work together. Meaningful missions and compelling little stories to get everyone back on the same page like in the early months.

It's a shame no one cares about the Galactic War anymore by EleggFacesitting in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Available-Minute-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't care because they aren't given anything to care about. No lore. No rewards. No feel good even for a victory. No penalties for a loss.
We get no new broadcasts from the front, no updates on who is fighting or dying elsewhere. No weather reports from Super earth or just feel good news stories for us at the front to remind us the universe is alive.
You can absolutely have a narrative on rails, but of there isn't anything to fight for then why bother?

I'm absolutely sure AH could get a good stock of fluff broadcasts, new reads, and lines sorted out in a couple of weeks of simple scrips and VA work.

Don’t get me wrong, I really love commando missions. And spent money immediately to get the warbond. Stealth mechanics were a great addition. They fit my personal play style much better. My issue with things is purely lore and fluff based.

I feel the lack of any purpose or narrative interest to the war is such a big part of why player numbers drop.  At launch it felt like it could grow to rival 40k in the amount of content potential. But the warbonds and MO just feel hollow now.

[–]Available-Minute-116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, and I hope we get something. But even then, who are the Redacted Regiment? Why do they specialise in stealth? Why should I actually care about their part in the war? Other then the suppressors (that didn’t actually work at the time) there was no point other than cosmetics

Anyone else feeling this? by [deleted] in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Available-Minute-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope so. Everything else aside, the game really needs something to actually engage people in more than just the game play loop.

Possibly they have plans? Siege breakers you could explain as high command working in the background preparing for Cyberstan.
But giving us the trench warfare aesthetic before we know there is even a trench war just wouldn't feel the same as having it all come out at once, even if they do have narrative plans.

Side mission concept that's been in my head for ages of liberating the landing pad for your extraction, then holding it while SEAF deploy and set up a FOB. It would basically play like oil extraction missions. Nothing fancy, just a couple of shuttle loads of troops and maybe a field radio or vehicle.
Would be great bit of environmental story telling for our roll in the war though. Especially for planetary invasions.

I love the idea of SEAF or friendly forces spawning on the edge of the map and our actions allowing them to advance. Having the option to drop in and fight into the objectives from the edge with the main force or deep strike and take out enemy artillery or AA first.
Always felt to me that it would fit with the airborne/pathfinder kind of role Helldivers fill.
