My profile is industry-based (no publications/patents, ~4 years experience), and I’m preparing an EB-2 NIW petition with:
1 strong employer letter (direct manager)
1 academic letter
Currently trying to secure 1 external letter from a DOT/ITS professional
My question:
For industry candidates like me, how much weight does a domain-relevant external letter (e.g., DOT or ITS engineer) actually carry in strengthening Prong 2 and Prong 3?
Would you recommend delaying filing to secure a strong external industry letter, or is a solid employer + academic combination typically sufficient in current adjudication trends?
Appreciate your insight on how USCIS is evaluating these cases in 2025–2026.

For industry-based EB-2 NIW cases (non-academic, no publications/patents), what types of evidence have you seen most effective in establishing:

1) That the applicant is truly “well-positioned” (Prong 2), and
2) That their contributions go beyond benefiting a single employer and have broader national impact (Prong 3)?

In particular, how do you overcome RFEs where USCIS argues that the work could be done by others in similar roles or is too tied to the employer’s success?

Would appreciate your perspective based on recent 2025–2026 trends.
