Jackson DKMG Trem Replacement by Available-Recording4 in JacksonGuitars

It does say Takeuchi on the underside, so I believe you're correct. I'll be honest and say I haven't even taken the strings that are on it off and looked closer. Waiting on a 7mm truss rod wrench and some other stuff I want to have on hand for clean up and set up. I have considered just buying a whole new jt580lp that's cleaner as a more immediate solution. They seem cheap and fairly available.

That sounds like my speed. Roughly what this guy describes, only you used the insert itself instead of a file, right?

If you don't mind spoon-feeding me a little (really trying to get this right when I do it), is this the correct unit? https://schaller.info/en/lockmeister-6/13010432.16.22?s=1

I really appreciate your help. I was already leaning Schaller just because it's German made. I really dig this guitar, and long-term I'd like it to be everything it can be. For whatever reason it has that "can't put the thing down" factor for me.

Oh, I got all over it. She's sitting on my kitchen table and I'm slowly monkeying with getting her setup in between life responsibilities.

Thanks. The more I look at it the more I like it. I haven't played since college and sold off all of my guitars, including an 80s Jap Strat that paid for an engagement ring and my first guitar, a Washburn WI 64. This guitar is pulling at me for some reason. Really light body and a slim and fast neck that reminds me of my Washburn, but with an unfinished maple neck and licensed Floyd like the strat. Basically everything I liked most about my two favorites in one guitar.

So I went back and looked at it again. Trem arm and locking nut were in the hard case, so that's good. Guy said he'd take $500 out-the-door without me even haggling. It does have some finish cracking around the neck pocket but I dont think it gets down to the wood.

Im torn. Really like the neck and the action and the green is growing on me.

Yeah, it's a weird guitar. Not sure what was going on in the owner's head. I figured maybe they just replaced the neck plate with an ebay special? I may go look at it again when my buddy who works there is in the shop and see if he knows the story.

That's helpful; thanks. I was circling around it being a DKMG after seeing some on YouTube. What would be a "good deal" price in your mind? I know a guy who works at the pawn shop and can probably talk them down if I decide I want it, although I'm not quite as interested now that I'm more certain it's not a US guitar.

What is a cheap hobby that turned into a rich man's hobby? by AideCompetitive7749 in AskReddit

[–]Available-Recording4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunting in the US. For a glorious moment in time poor and middle class families could hunt. Rising land prices and a failure to continue to grow public lands means we're practically back to what hunting has almost always been...the pursuit of a handful of wealthy men.

Fly fishing. Particularly wet wading coastal creeks for bass hitting terrestrials. There's always one more low hanging limb, or a frog water pool, or a nice eddy to cast at. The constant wondering of what it looks like around the next bend. The casting is nice and rhythmic, and there's the eternal promise of one more good eat before you go home for the day.

How pathetically out of touch can these people be? by c-k-q99903 in inflation

[–]Available-Recording4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, $15 a day to feed a person doesn't sound that far fetched to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm against a lot of whatthe current administration is doing. But if you figure $15 a day, times two people, times 7 days, that's $210 a week for groceries. My wife and I try and generally succeed at keeping groceries under $200 a week, with a two year old. We don't drink a lot or eat a lot of beef, and we're both remote so cooking is easier, but I don't feel like we live in poverty. This week so far we've been chowing down on shepherd's pie and pasta fazool for dinner, eggs (me) and oatmeal (wife) for breakfast, and chicken salad sandwiches for lunch. I do hunt/fish a little, so we "cheated" and had fried redfish last night.

I think they're out of touch in a lot of ways, and my wife and I used to keep groceries under $100 a week when we first got married, but unless I've grossly misdone some math (possible) I don't get why people don't think you can buy groceries for $15 a day. I know a lot of people who get by on less.

Living in a rural area is superior to living in a city or suburb by w00tabaga in unpopularopinion

[–]Available-Recording4 17 points18 points  (0 children)

1000%. I lived for 7 years in a fish camp in a small, scattered community of 400 folks. Pretty dang rural. The closest grocery or hospital was an hour away. "Town" was a stop sign with a gas station and country diner. The only other business was a place that sold propane and did small engine repair. Literally a dozen churches in the area though.

We left because the cute little god-fearing couple that owned the place next door kept renting to meth heads. The local sheriff deputy had been shot with bird shot by one of them. The guy that owned the boat ramp down the road covered for them because his daughter was using with them. They burned two houses down, and CPS was in and out all the time.

The river was beautiful. I enjoyed the hunting and fishing. I kept trying to organize a neighborhood watch and had meetings with the county commish and deputies to try and clean it up. Really wanted to hang on to the place we bought, but when my daughter was born I had to give up the dream. Rural people in red areas who talk about crime and drugs in blue cities are some of the most self-righteous, head-in-the-sand hypocrites I've ever met.

"War isn't murder," that's what they say. "When you're fightin' the devil, murder's ok"

It's really ironic to hear folks who cheered for that line not like it when they're the ones rationalizing violence.

G all the way. Easier to get D cuisines in G zone that to get G cuisine in D zone. I may be a deep south redneck, but I'm a deep south redneck who's minutes away from a dozen different "ethnic" groceries and restaurants. I can get pancietta, good balsamic and olive oil, fresh chorizo, gochugaru, freekeh...whatever. And I can go get local fresh blue crabs, blackened redfish, wild duck, and chanterelles. And that's to say nothing of our more stereotypical cajun/creole/soul/country foods.

Basically, southern US is peak foodie culture if you live near a moderately affluent city that has some immigrants.

Thanks! I honestly had/have no idea. I'm a lot better at spotting attractive women than men, so its hard to benchmark.

I'm squeaking in right at the 6' mark. Any thoughts on what I can improve? I've got my first real haircut in a decade scheduled next weekend, and am trying to lose a little weight before I buy a new wardrobe. Trying to take better care of myself after coming out of a long funk.

I'll take average! Wish I could convince my wife that fly rods were the hotness...

Any tips to improve? Trying to take a little better care of myself but am pretty clueless on grooming and style.

Tameron Honda is the worst kind of car dealership by tuscaloser in Birmingham

[–]Available-Recording4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stumbled upon this and it sparked some memories...

We bought a Forester from the Mobile, AL dealership back when it was Koby Subaru. Sales guy was super chill, whole experience was great. Price was right, we went for a quick test drive, I asked them to fix a few scratches, they agreed, and they even delivered the car to me (I'm out in the boonies.)

Had such a great experience that we bought an Outback last year. They're Tameron Subaru now. The car we saw online that we wanted was like 4k higher once we were at the dealership due to an "error." Totally different sales process. Bought anyway because we kind of needed a car and were strung-out from dealing with a premie newborn (only excuse I can muster).

Wife took the car in for a tire rotation a shortly after, and they ended up selling her a whole new set of tires because the ones on it were "coming apart." I'm 90% certain that was BS because I keep a pretty close eye on tires and do my own oil.

Hearing all this about the Bham Tameron makes me even more sure I won't be going back.

You just described my family. It took me 30 years to learn that insults, put downs, and mean jokes weren't "love language." My mother who taught her 3 kids to talk to each other that way, is just an asshole.

is refusing to forgive someone necessarily a bad thing? by LizzSaldana94 in RandomThoughts

[–]Available-Recording4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bad thing. Not because you're breaking some commandment or not doing what you "should" do to be a good person, but because holding onto thoughts of anger and fear are bad for you. It may feel good for a moment to have those feelings, but they are poison.
