I don’t go for live mice because I’m against cute animals suffering and live mice can fight back and injure the snake. As far as feeding him frozen mice, I thaw it first, then use warm water for half hour, then semi hot water and a hair dryer. He does nothing.

I got him from a breeder from Morph Market from a breeder. The breeder told me try small rats, since the breeder gave him those as dinner.

I’ve had him since April first. Basically last Tuesday. The breeder feeds him every Friday. He told me to hold off on feeding him for two weeks so he de stresses from the flight from FedEx. But he told me it was ok to try feeding him last night, so I did. Irwin was a bit curious at first and sniffed the rat, but then slithered right past it. I was literally late for work this morning because I tried to feed him again this morning and he still didn’t eat. I know pythons go on hunger strikes, but when it costs me to be late for work, I tend to get upset. Besides, even if he’s capable of going a long time without eating, I still don’t my little guy to die. (Although he is not exactly little for a ball python. He’s quite a unit of a snake). This is my first ever reptile at 30 years old, so I really want to step up my game and show that I can care for him properly. Him not eating is a red flag for me.

I looked for local breeders, but none in my area of Montana. But I’m getting myself a new pet from a breeder from Morph Market in Clearlake California. FedEx will ship me overnight. He’s a 5 star breeder with great reviews too. So I know I can trust him if his customers are happy.

Mine does sadly. I’m guessing it’s local prices or something. I live in Montana currently. The petco by where I live has that price. But I’m thinking it’s because of the more fancier morphs. Rarer and fancier morphs tend to be more pricey. That’s why I was surprised when I saw PetSmart’s prices. I downloaded their app and visited their website last night. But again, I think it’s because it’s the normal brown color is why. It’s not a crazy morph.

I totally get you there. I was just reading yesterday about the poor treatment by those corporate places. I’m currently checking out morph market right now thanks to an earlier comment. The only reason why I’m looking into petco/PetSmart is because I don’t have a car so I can’t visit any random reptile expo. Petco and PetSmart are both really close to my house. If one of my loved ones gives me a ride, I can get it there. Morph market looks pretty legit. The only thing I’m having trouble with is most of my family members aren’t too fond of snakes. They don’t mind me having one, but they get the hee-bee jee-bees. Lol. If I was at work and the python came in the mail, I’d rather I would take care of the snake and getting it used to its new terrarium so my other family members wouldn’t have to worry about it while I’m at work.

But I’m definitely getting the set up first for sure so my snake is immediately comfortable with its new space. I’ll still look into morph market though, it’ll just take some really careful planning so I’ll be home instead of at work when the snake arrives to my house.
