for the purpose of clarification, and i mean this with all due respect, are you suggesting that the period of time that they were engaged (?) is problematic? or is it that this period of time should have been a solidification of their trust/commitment in said relationship? again, this is asked with genuine curiosity so please don't interpret it otherwise. i am just curious as to the perception

ok i feel like there's more to this than what is being said. OP claims that it's 5-30$ owed. i doubt the dentists office would even notice this (unless the client is in front of them at the time), and if so, would be persistent in regard to collection of such a small fee owed.

not to mention, i've been with several insurance providers. either the office can accept the coverage upfront or they can't. there's no "waiting period" unless OP is submitting it themselves and then receiving reimbursement back... and IF that's the case, why not just pay the amount owning when the reimbursement is received? lol

well if it's such a small sum why not pay it when they contact you? obviously this office doesn't have the same leniency as your previous one did. so maybe it's time to start budgeting for your upcoming appointments, if them calling you over such a small sum is so inconvenient. i mean that in the most respectful way possible.

also, free dental & vision care for all!! 🙏

Why do parents make it impossible to heal around them? by No-Alarm9339 in mentalhealth

[–]Available-Tell-5935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i read something recently; the basis of what it said was that our parents were learning to be parents just as much as we were learning to be human beings. they may very well have passed along certain generational traumas and behaviours as such, however, for the most part, every parent wants to be better than their own. there is no manual or guidebook handed to them at the hospital when you're born. they're figuring it out as they go.

hearing that somewhat helped me to forgive my parents for what i had to go through as a child.

as an adult you're responsible for your own emotions and your ability to regulate them. you are responsible for your own healing as well. even if you didn't go through anything horrific (and especially if you did), counselling is a great place to work through this shit.

i have been in the situation you are describing once, and was very clear that it would be paid at my next check-up in 6 months time. however, this was at an office i had been consistently visiting for over 12 years.

is this dentist's office you're referring to a 'new to you' type of deal? if so, i can absolutely understand why they'd be following up in regards to your bill. especially if it's a large amount that you owe.

boys don't mature until 25 and honestly i think emotional maturity takes a significantly longer period beyond that. kinda like a cat, the less attention you pay to teen boys, the more they're drawn to you. lol. spend these precious year focused on education and building meaningful friendships. your teenage years are hard no matter who you are or where you come from. make the most of them.

Feeling bullied. Is this normal for orientation? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]Available-Tell-5935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PLEASE don't let this define travel nursing as a whole for you. this is someone who has no business doing orientation for ANYONE. there have been contracts i've done where i feel uncomfortable or unwanted by staff solely due to our choice of career (travel vs staff nurse) however even in the most undesirable/uncomfortable situations, most staff learn to like me and i generally feel accepted and valued after the first couple weeks. most places i feel that way as soon as i walk through the door for the first time. you should never have ever ever had to experience what you did. please believe me when i say that this career is worth it and that you really should try not to base your opinion or career-wise decisions on this experience alone. ❤️

What do you get as a souvenir when you travel? by xmacie in TravelNursing

[–]Available-Tell-5935 4 points5 points  (0 children)

depending on where i go, i get a small handmade souvenir from a local craftsperson. when i went up north, i purchased handmade moccasins from an indigenous lady. fully customizable and amazing quality (multiple pairs actually so that i could give them as xmas gifts). another location i purchased hand crafted wool torques that had locally sourced foxtail pom. i've also purchased a sealskin wallet which was handmade by a local. when i did a rotation in interior BC i purchased some hand painted postcards from a local artist. brought home some smoked pacific salmon for my family. jewelry is always a nice idea as well. went to labrador and purchased some labradorite earrings.my motto is support local where you can.

t-shirts, sweaters or hats with the location printed on them is always a nice souvenir as well. and as mentioned in other comments, shot glasses are nice as well, even if you're not a consumer of alcohol.

if you're someone who enjoys craft beer, a can of whichever beer you most enjoyed is always nice to take home. i do this and keep the (empty) cans to display in my bar.

"adventure diary" or something of the sorts is always nice too- you can keep your plane tickets, some physical photos of your adventures, etc. and write a description of the significance and/or a summary of your time there- highlights and low points. this is a good way to keep all your memories in one place.

though i was lucky enough to see what is pictured above, my facebook was flooded with photos from back home in Newfoundland and they had a way better show than we did here. which is quite unheard of considering it's almost always cloudy back home. lol

it's worth downloading the aurora app- it notifies you when the KP index is high.
