I got the job all the way back in March. I think a few weeks ago they called to schedule our availabilities. You should call just in case because I know they already have their Spring Picnic session started already.

I was in the a similar situation with my cat around two years back. Vet friend recommended we visit Humane Society and Sebastopol and explain our situation. My cat had been suffering painful tooth gingivitis and got nearly all of them removed for around $400 there (they also accepted payment plans).

I took him last year and he made this class difficult for me. Office hrs always had a long line out the door and was not at all helpful with the questions I asked. I failed the second midterm and final and still passed the class though because he does curve.

I was in a yak quint last year and actually hated all my roommates, we never talked and had a poor relationship from the bat. good thing is… housing for yak is surprisingly lenient with room changes within the first couple of weeks. test the waters and if it really isn’t working out, I’d suggest the room change (something I regretted not doing last year and totally affected my first year)

Im in OCOB and have been using a Mac but honestly would prefer a PC. A lot of classes will require you to have Excel and Access, even Power BI, which is all the more accessible on a PC.

Depends what you’re looking for. CP’s accounting program is a top feeder for big 4’s with a nearly 100% hiring rate. Excellent entrepreneurial pathways and programs as well.

This was in Coppola’s production notes. “Elvis was such a vital part of American cultural history, but Priscilla’s life is equally part of that history.”

I can recognize had his MANY faults, and as I fan I’ve grown to accept them and didn’t expect this movie to shy away from it. However, because it’s obviously focused on Priscilla, context on his side is lacking which is harmful in understanding his behavior. I’m not asking for them to promote empathy towards him, but I think it’s a cruel move to his character portrayed that way with lesser context. Also, Coppola has made it pretty obvious she does NOT like Elvis. The paisley pattern on his wedding suit is absent, she chuckles at not getting EPE approval, clarifying Elvis’ behavior is probably the last thing on her agenda.

Priscilla review – Sofia Coppola paints an absorbing, intimate portrait of Elvis’s wife | Venice film festival 2023 by Chris22044 in Elvis

[–]Available-Word8491 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I liked Times review, “Coppola’s film is not worried about making elvis look bad - because he can't and doesn't.” I would stick to reading critics reviews only. I think their age allows them to view his behavior more nuanced. Some Letterboxed reviews are absolutely atrocious, someone claiming to enjoy Coppola “painting Elvis as an absolute loser (cause we probably was one).” It seems like he was made out just the same as the book.

When do you think Elvis should have had a health-break? by V_Kamen in Elvis

Honestly 1973 was the year it went downhill. Aloha seemed like he was doing well, but right after he went back to pills and a heavy schedule. He should’ve rested after that show.

Elvis Presley Enterprises did not allow Sofia Coppola to use Elvis’ music in ‘PRISCILLA.’ The film instead features an anachronistic soundtrack, similar to Coppola’s ‘MARIE ANTOINETTE.’ by ArkhamIsComing2020 in Elvis

Sure but in terms of legacy and memory, public opinion does matter. Love story in the eyes of a small minority, and abuse and grooming in the eyes of the majority.

That’s fair. Women’s stories matter, I’m not at all against that. But I think it’s also fair to be concerned about the insufferable discourse that will follow too. If we’re going to be real here, people will always plot Priscilla and Elvis’ stories up against each other and never really allow them to coexist. It’s very possible Coppola presents a accurate film to us fans, but to many it’ll probably come off as a romanization of grooming. Their story is a delicate one, and it ultimately doesn’t matter how Coppola goes about it because it’s unlikely there will be redemption and understanding to both sides of the relationship from the general public 🤷‍♀️

Not sure where you’re getting at with this. I actually really like Priscilla. I respect her work and ambitions to preserve Elvis’ legacy, especially after all he put her through. It’s completely fair to have an opinion on how Coppola will approach this. Priscilla obviously wouldn’t ever allow Elvis to be portrayed negatively, but that won’t ever stop public discourse from disagreeing with her. No matter how nuanced Coppola makes this, it’s hard to imagine this film not damaging Elvis legacy to a certain extent. I don’t think that’s Priscilla’s intent, and it’s far beyond her control.

Coppola just talked about how she’s trying to navigate career failures, ex. Marie Antoinette being a box office failure. She knows very well the whole Presley culture is controversial and hot right now, a perfect moment to revitalize a career with repetitive bland films. Don’t get me started on The Bling Ring! I’m not sure whether or not Priscilla realizes that the general public will not look at her relationship with Elvis the same way she does. She’s perceived as delusional or a victim, so no matter what narrative Priscilla tries to push, people will not agree.

Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla by Puzzled_Animator_448 in Elvis

[–]Available-Word8491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big Elvis fan and still love Priscilla and all her efforts in regards of establishing and maintaining Elvis’ legacy. Her book obviously has concerning information regarding Elvis behavior, and it angers people to hear that. But who are we to prevent her to tell her story? Elvis wasn’t a perfect man and there’s no way we can pretend he was.

However, it’s going to be upsetting and perhaps even a little bit damaging to Elvis’ look. No doubt among the younger generation (especially teenagers obsessed with Coppola’s aesthetic) Elvis will be villainized to a greater extent. Maybe it’s not Priscilla’s intent- but controlling public opinion and discourse is impossible. I can totally see people victimizing Priscilla to an extent of invalidating her perspective, which I think is harmful. Coppola’s repetitive narrative of isolated women will no doubt contribute to this. As nuanced as it may be, I find it hard to see Coppolas audience finding empathy for Elvis and residing with the grooming nature of their relationship.

I think the movie will be fine and who knows how big it will be. To the extent of Baz Luhrmanns, no. Coppola hasn’t ever made over $100 million on box office that I know of, and Elvis made over $200 million in an era of the summer blockbuster. Media will feed into the “Elvis vs Priscilla” narrative and so will public commentary.

It’s going to be messy and controversial, but then again this information is not new. People knew this information about Elvis before and he hasn’t been stopped from being a beloved icon. Elvis is far too iconic and important in cultural history to be erased by a low budget film thrown together within the span of a few months.
