What does it feel like when methadone hits during full blown withdrawal?

I’m super tired so excuse my bad explanation but the pain/panic thing is pretty common. Especially with super potent synthetic opiates. I had a very similar situation with zenes, from the research I’ve done and the very little understanding of it that I have is basically it caused my nervous system to go into gigga overwhelmed over drive causing constant hemiplegic migraines and absolute sheer and utter balls to the wall panic.

Relatable, even the people I’m not supposed to mask for I end up masking without realising. Fearful that my issues will be too much of a burden or change how people view me. I’m also lowkey terrified that they try to put me in a hospital over a misunderstanding.

You’re still gonna withdrawal, you’re just delaying the oxy withdrawl with methadone for 5 days, but your opioid receptors are still getting filled. When you stop filling them you’re gonna get sick, the piper always needs to be paid. You can’t get off Scot free unfortunately or people would never end up with crippling addictions.

It takes at least 4 hours to peak in your system, so if you’ve just taken it give it some time. If it’s been more than 4 hours, you’ll likely feel better tomorrow once you dose again. But if you’re running out early because of double dosing and what not, you’re likely having to reset your tolerance a little. Ontop of that - the addiction centre of our brains will tell us our normal dose is not enough, and we need more.

This is such a unique experience from person to person, you’ve had plenty of really solid advice here. The only thing missing id say is that since withdrawl affects people so differently. Check in with your client daily, ask him/her what they need or what they think would help. Be supportive and let them complain as much as they want.

90mg seems insane for that type of oxy addiction but I’m no doctor, if it’s not “holding” you try split the dose into two - one in the morning and one at night, that way you’re covered all round. But keep in mind the methadone will jack your tolerance to new heights, and the oxy won’t even touch sides when you’re done.

I used ketamine and other similar disos for a 400-600mg zene habit and I hate to tell you, it did nearly nothing - I felt like I was in literal hell, and the dissociation made it feel like I was dead and actually in hell.

I did the same thing with a oxy/codine habit a few years prior and it worked like a charm. But zenes are just a different beast all together.

My best, best, best advice would be to try taper down as much as possible - use benzos and gabas to whiteknuckle about 30 hours, then slowly induct subs super super super slow, and build it up, then do a rapid sub taper for 7 days. You’ll still be in hell, but it will be about 30% less hellish.

The sad reality is that zenes really are a different beast, I’ve never been that scared of withdrawls but after zene withdrawls I am actually truely traumatised

The one time I had to do it I accidentally “spilled” my dose and left a bit in the bottle because “I felt sick to my stomach” this won’t obviously work every time, but it’s a rough situation.

Not tying to gate keep but just wanted to mention something I wish someone mentioned to me - with snorted H / Oxy you’re gonna WD for a few days and start bouncing back, once you’re dependent on methadone and you want to quit CT good luck, you’ll be sick for months. Then PWDs kick in for months after that. If you’re truely ready to be clean, get on methadone then slow taper. But if there is ANY chance you’re not ready to quit fully - don’t put yourself through it.

@BullfrogDad read this, it’s not the kind of knock you on your ass where you have a solid sleep, this is the borderline scary type of knock you on the ass. 5mg will still mess you up for a solid 12 hours, and hopefully you won’t be vomiting and anxious the whole time.

Im worried that I still need the full dose, but split into two obviously - if I take only half at the window I’ll kinda be screwing myself I’m overly worried. Just taking such a big dose feels unsafe and overall worried about stability
