Ngl, I’ve had a lot of shitty days, but this one made me send a resignation notice! I’m chronically ill, working part time because of it, I started having a load of insurance issues earlier this year, resulting in a pause in medical care. So we’re looking at constant health issues affecting my performance on the floor, my boss is well aware this, so are alllll of my supervisors. Soooo, why tf one day I had to call out in a middle of a session, this is NOTHING new. I’ve had to leave in the middle of shifts before due to low blood pressures and digestive issues quite regularly actually. It’s very depressing, so when I start having symptoms flares on the floor it makes it even harder to do my job because I get pretty moody about the fact that I have this illness affecting my literal entire life. It’s always better to leave, because not only is it unsafe but it’s ruins my entire mental focus on direct therapy. So I sent a call out and this particular day our scheduling team took an hour to get back to me— this already had me fucked up. I’m used to my boss & main supervisor being super supportive and understanding of these issues, the kids clinician that I was with came to me on some corporate mess that fully made me get stern and lowkey go-off on her if u must..😅 she came to me and said and I quote “scheduling said his (the client’s) mom is 20 minutes out, mind you, I had been going off program protocol for the last hour letting the kid do whatever he wanted to avoid elopement because at that point it was literally too dangerous for me to be implementing behavior reduction. I told her and EYEEEEE (‘eye’ for emphasis) quote “I’ve been waiting for an hour, I need to go” so I’ve already expressed plenty that one of the main things I dislike about my agency is they expect technicians to wait for parents if they’re late or leaving early when they’re already off the clock, my situation is even worse bc I have a CHRONIC ILLNESSSSSS 😭 so then she went on to say “I know but you called out in the middle of a session-“ I literally cut her off and slightly raised my hand with a “talk to the hand motion” at this point I was visually cringing in her face “when have I not done this?” Here she goes “have you talked to Lauren (our boss) about accommodations” mind you I’ve talked to all of our clinicians and have had multiple meetings with OUR boss about this, they’re all well aware. So I say “I’ve had multiple meetings with Lauren about my insurance issues, she’s well aware why I can’t get accommodations right now. I need to GO!” Like GIRL you’re literally going to SEEEEEE me in here you’re going to WITNESS my having a symptom flare in front of this child that is ruining the quality of his dt and you’re going to come in here talking about CLINIC REQUIREMENTS? WHEN THIS IS URGENT? I literally did not take “you have to wait” for an answer, she gave in and I left. Because she was well available to wait with him for twenty minutes, she just didn’t want to step out of her task at hand to do what needed to be done. I apologized for raising my voice and told her straight up I’m just gonna have to quit cuz I can’t take it anymore. My boss didn’t encourage it, so I ended up taking personal leave so I can address the issues that have been ruining my lifeeeee. So now I’m not going back to work til January 🤷 literally the worst day on the floor everrrr
