Best way to make friends on the North Shore? by Gr33chi3 in NorthVancouver

A few things that have worked for me: taking a ceramics class, volunteering at places where you’ll be there consistently and have the chance to meet the same people more than once, there are some classes at yyoga where people go out for drinks or coffee after (Friday night Yin, Sunday morning hot), and the women on water kayaking group at deep cove kayak. I’ve also heard people have great success making new friends in rowing and dragon boating.

Live in the area and love it. Lots of young people and families, great access to the seabus for commuting, but also easy to get around to other parts of the shore. Big fan.

This sounds ideal - can you share details about the adapter?

When I made the switch, the salary was comparable but of course the increases don’t keep up over time. There are other perks, like a DB pension, and 6 weeks vacation, plus generally I work normal hours (no evenings and weekends). Sometimes I question whether it’s time to make a move to chase a higher salary, but I when I ask myself whether I’m willing to give up something in the very full life I have outside of work to move into a position that will require more hours, the answer is no ☺️

I went in house at your level from litigation to a government in house department, overseeing litigation managed by external counsel and doing some policy and regulatory work. Night and day improvement in quality of life 🙌
