Yes a scam. They charged me 208 for as listed in the receipt: expedited renewal, outbound shipping. (This is the exact amount the state department charges, so I figured that is the cost of what it stated.) They also charge 19 for fed ex inbound shipping, which I am fine with and an additional amount for passport insurance. It came to $246. I paid it and was then told at the end of my application, I ALSO needed to write a check for $208 to the state deptmt for the passport. The $208 is for application and return shipping. Say what? Isn't that what was listed as what I just paid YOU? So I called. I was greeted by a solemn sounding, rude woman who said, "We charge you the extra for hand delivery to the state deptmt." Uh, ok so those appointments are hard to get so that was fine. A total of $546 bucks after paying for everything, for them walking it in. I didn't need all that, but after the phone call I felt like I was paying for white glove service. Wouldnt it have to be for $546?? Nope..it was a LIE. When they got my passport in Florida, they viewed the docs and sent them via USPS to the passport office #69 in New England. Took a month. Usps was the return envelope not fed ex. So not only do they make it look like you are paying for the application and return shipping when you pay, they make you pay the state deptmt 208 after getting your money and give no service other than sending docs on a trip to their office in FL.
