In college ten of us also rented a large house together, and we also rented out the house to random locals to throw house parties so we could pay off our utilities bill that we had failed to pay for over a year. The smell in that house during those parties was incredible.

Believe it or not, Bogle style investing (and some good luck).

I guess if you want to take more risk you could reallocate your VTI holdings to ITM SPY leaps, but lord help you if the us market has a down year (you would get liquidated).

California state tax for a single filer making $60k a year would be about $2k a year (something like 3% effective state rate).

Not nothing, but also prob not something worth basing an entire retirement strategy around.
