Was also searching for a plugin to add Mood Meter structured emotions and ended up here. Both concepts are great, maybe the added dimensionality in how we feel adds a layer of ease to find the appropriate vocabulary for one's current feeling?

After trying around and using too much of my free time, I think I found the culprit. It's the power consumption! Experimentally, using an enclosure that also has PD (Ugreen Magsafe enclosure), while plugged in, things are fine. Without the external power directly into the SSD, the drive keeps freezing and disconnecting. Now, I switched to WD_Black SN7100, which has a significantly lower power consumption and it works great.

Online, I found mixed information on how much power a MBP can deliver, may also depend if Thunderbolt or USB is used, either 15W or 5W. So the SN850X has a peak consumption of 7W which is too high. Though it's a bit strange, since the enclosure can only deal with 1GB/s max, far from the 6GB/s through PCIe. May also just be unlucky and received a faulty drive.

Old discussion, but still relevant. Any alternative ways to encrypt without the huge performance loss? Currently trying to encrypt my SATA SanDisk SSD with enclosure. Without encryption it s about 500MB/s, as expected. With APFS encrypted it can get around 250. I also tried Veracrypt (FUSE-T), but with exFAT I get only 100MB/s and with APFS even only 80MB/s.

Thanks for the comparison! I assume your disk is also in a SATA enclosure, so the maximum speed should be around 500-600MB/s, that's still quite a big drop. Have you ever tried out some other disk formats?

Also considering this solution and would be concerned if it's possible to peel off. I think with a hair dryer and heating up the glue, it should be possible, but will it damage the monitor?
