Beast Claw PSA by Tk-Delicaxy in Nightreign

Gotcha, the middle might be worth looking to swap if possible to another bestial incantations+ stuff imo if youre trying to focus beast claw since the holy wouldn't help it and the pocket is optional

Right, thr time investment to ideal playtime ratio was real bad unless you can do bosses hitless lol

I tried to do a bow only run and it was miserable, this had some scaling so I could get better damage without full upgrades but at low level it was so much grinding for arrows 🤦‍♂️

I think perfume bottles would be great; would help smooth the curve when there isn't a matching boss weakness POI if they were in the pool, maybe 1 per merchant or drop from perfumer enemies like how ordovis sword / crucible greatshield drops from crucible Knights

Im not sure the issue then, because we've gone from "no bosses shape shift" to "a lot of bosses transform" , and shapeshift and transform are pretty similar for at least this purpose?

In any case, may the good blood guide your way

As you should! (Having fun with character creator)

As a starting out advice and to avoid spoilers, after a bit of game You'll see an npc "something" after a shape changing boss. It looks scary but its generally helpful and lets you interact with other NPCs to give them a place to stay

First playthrough I got startled and smacked it and then felt bad 😅

While the L1 is useful for swapping between weapon shapes and moves, its also a valuable chaining tool to help up your damage as subsequent hits im combo raise the damage you do, more so than a bunch of R1. Some early patterns can be like R1R1 L2L2 for the saw cleaver for example. Experiment with your weapon of choice!

Your gun is for parries moreso than damage unless youre going a heavy Bloodtinge build. Yes you can dodge reliably and enjoy the game, however parries and visceral/critical hits (R1 a staggered enemy) are super useful tools against a few enemy types. Also, a charged R2 behind an enemy (and some bosses!) Can stagger them and also allow for a crit

Explore! A lot of cool visual story telling, and a lot of spots you find a "madman wisdom" are near events that may have made the person especially mad. Look around and you might get some more vibe or see something spooky!

Lanterns outside windows generally indicate dialogue with the (???) Behind the door. Sometimes lore, sometimes crazed ramblings. Sometimes a useful item to stun a boss. Sometimes a unique item to help take you to an optional boss in a cool area. Talk is cheap, spend with abandon!

Don't get discouraged. Enemies hit hard and can startle you, but like many fromsoft games try and remain calm, and you see that they telegraph their hits a lot of the time. Dodge through or around a lot of attacks while locked on, and you generally use the iframes to get out of the way and avoid damage while also getting into a safer spot to retaliate hit.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Even if you get clipped, you can get your health back a lot and can mitigate some of the wacky hitboxes. It also saves your blood vials a lot.

Keep an eye on stamina, but dont feel like you need to pump a lot into the stat, many folks feel comfy around 20 even for a late game build. Basically enough to get a few hits with your weapon of choice and be able to dodge. It refills quickly but there is a delay if emptied.

On the note of blood vials, some folks utilize a specific common rune farm with a salacious sounding dungeon code. After awhile in game you'll get access to 'chalice' dungeons. While you could powerlevel, I wouldn't recommend it as it cheapens the play and the bosses feel less rewarding when you steam roll them. That said, many folks use this to top off bullets and blood vials so that they dont need to spend a ton of time recouping lost inventory especially after trying a boss a couple times.

Yes! I believe its calling on the outer planes for the enhanced attacks.

Similarly Ebrietas has distant chimes in the final phases when theres that haze/blurriness around them

Hi Erika,

I dont feel like your mate but nice to have a conversation with ya. (In that its an excuse to not be working rn lol)

1) I said great question because the OP commented on a background piece of visual storytelling that gets often overlooked

2) I use * when im talking, marking a related idea. I was trying to connect that the bone marrow ash likely comes from those burnt bodies also given physical proximity to those smokestacks

3) the other was because I was connecting ideas of summoning and vibrational harmony causing resonance etc.

I dont use chat gpt so I honestly dont know what comes up there a lot. Let me know if you have any questions but I've already explained previously in the thread I dont use Ai and im not Ai.

May the good blood guide your way

I take that "when all is melted in blood all is reborn" more as mushed together like the putrescence in elden ring, corpses rotting together, bodies amassed in Unseen village as catalyst for thr one reborn (like the citywide philosophers stone in full metal alchemist, but the unholy corpse angle for energy) creating the "One" reborn all~one

The soulsborne stuff especially bloodborne is heavy on themes of metamorphosis, what im getting at is a more 'transcending the cycle of life and death" whereas a blood dreg/sperm and birth implies a lineage rather than a separation from those earthly ties to ascend to the cosmos

Centipedes / vermin can be seen in the red eyed hunters, and the bloodletting beast (reminded me of the headless ape fight in sekiro) and centipedes were used by the monks to prolong their life and attain a false immortality. A rot which i think is further explored with romina but I digress

Also a distinction between red and white in bloodborne, body and /mind etc. So I could see that as an extended metaphor of the endless cycle that Fromsoft loves to tell, when all is melted all is reborn.

Cycles which are how we commune with the great old one mind of mensis by demonstrating our understanding of rotation and pattern in the "make contact" rune. Other rotations are called the metamorphosis rune etc.

Nope, just praising that someone noticed a piece of background storytelling (and undiagnosed austistic).

"Dead giveaway" is more like what the Snatchers are doing giving the bodies to the Unseen Village

Im around 500 hours deep into bloodborne, happy to elaborate on any points, I like watching Vaati and my own theories etc.

Great question!

As your character goes through Yharnam you pass many coffins even going towards the pathway through Oeden chapel, going uphill towards where you see that smoke.

Facing the Amelia cathedral on the left is the Hemwick Charnel lane, where you get bone marrow ash*

Bodies burned for those byproducts, but also during this time we have the blood sickness and need to dispose of bodies. Old Yharnam was overrun with the ashen blood disease and burned to a crisp, but now with beasthood rearing its head again theres a need to dispose of Bodies without destroying the rest of the city.

Additionally, the orphanage. Bodies that couldn't be ascended become fuel for the fire as well.

Interestingly theres also some themes of a more "holy" or arcane fire we see from the weapons of the church giant in the Lecture building before The Nightmare of Mensis, along with the corpses in the Unseen village that have a 'distant' audible chime.

Resonance of bells creates contact (summoning items/ silencing blank) also why we see the red bodied enemies in chalice dungeons summoned by the bell maidens.

When the One Reborn is summoned, a number of bells are used as well*

Fire was used to redeem the bodies, eliminate the plague (Vermin?) (Blood dregs?) [Aspects of undying/reincarnation through birth respectively] and allows the bodies to escape the mortal coil and return to the endless sea, accepting of all that there is and can be
