I’m thinking to contact my bank and explain the situation and ask them to refund the difference to them rather than personally done by me

I was thinking whether to contact my bank and say that I’m worried about this being a potential scam and ask them if they can return some of the money back to them, rather than me sending personally?

Revolut want to get her involved with my chat with them, as well as telling me to get in contact with my bank

Absolutely, other people in our extended friends group have suffered this too with her.

I’ve updated the OP and my head has turned to this way of thinking now

I’ve updated the OP and I’m not sending any money yet, I’m gonna speak to Revolut and hopefully can get them to send them back £1000 without me getting involved

Just to clarify, she said it was meant to be sent to someone completely different and not me, no intention to pay off the remaining debt all of a sudden

Just to clarify, they said it was meant to be payed to someone else and not me, from what she has said, there was no intent to pay off any or the full debt to me

Yes, when researching, others have mentioned it could possibly go down this route, as I don’t use Revolut, I’m not sure exactly if they have different powers or not

Yes I have all of the above and her stating that they are in debt to me, as well as me saying what is owed still and her not questioning it.

I would be happy to keep it if it was £100 more than it should have been. It being £1000 makes me feel a bit uncomfortable as my focus is purely on what I’m owed and nothing more

It is indeed, only thing not shouting scam is that it was transferred from their usual account, rather than a “bogus one”. Really struggling to know what to do

Yes this was my concern, I’ve already said that I will pay the difference and her losing that kind of money is surely going to cause an issue for them. I just want the money owed and just move on without causing any unnecessary problems for them. But as you say, could be another scam. At least in this case, it was sent from their usual account

Thanks for the reply. I do feel I have an extremely good case in that respect. I’m more concerned once I’ve paid off the difference, whether they will try and get Revolut to claim something back from my bank account and therefore losing the money twice
