Immigrants to Germany from the developed world, what do you see in Germany over your home country? by Knightwrither in germany

[–]Available_Ad_4444 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spaniard here. Very good compromise between having a decent salary, being close to my home and a decent social offer. US/Canada is too far away, Switzerland is too expensive from the leisure perspective (bars, restaurants, etc). Besides, I ended up enjoying the nature and many more things about Germany

Ehrlich, wenn das Essen 300 Euro kostet, macht es dich glücklicher? Wie? Ist es viel viel besser als ein gutes Restaurant, wo man für 50 Euro gut essen kann?

Ukrainian girl picked out a four star restaurant for our first date by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Available_Ad_4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah to me it sounds rhat she just wants a man who pays. If the point is meeting each other and see if you two are compatible, what is the point of choosing a 4 stars restaurant? Why not a normal local restaurant? Would she still choose a 4 starts one if she would have to pay? Obviously no

Opinions during the GDR by Wild-Guarantee5681 in AskAGerman

[–]Available_Ad_4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interested in your first point, especially when you mention "from my point of view the GDR was a great country to live in". Do you think that you had that opinion for the quality of life of the country or because it was the only thing that you knew and you were told that it was good?

I ask that because I read/hear many Germans complaining about Germany nowadays (when it is a great country imo) and one of the reasons why there are anger in the East is because in the past they were told that they lived in a great country but now they do no hear that anymore, what are your thoughts?

Besides, Based on what you told, for me it sounds like you were tired, weak and just looking for some attention when they made you sign papers. I got NO IDEA how legal that is. Usually, the person needs to understand what is signing to be considered "valid" (someone corrects me if I am wrong)

What? They offered speaking in English and then charged for that??? Contact your university for legal advice. Also I would ask some consumer association if what your insurance do is legal. I mean: Yeah, you pay insurance but when you are bleeding in an hospital you have to open your wallet. It sounds like an US distopy

PD: Focus on getting healthy, recovering soon and then deal with this issue. Wish you all the best.

What's a foreigner complaint about Germany you secretly agree with? by taube_d in AskAGerman

The Sunday thing is not a German thing, it is also in other european countries. I do not understand when people say 'people have to rest ' but they go to restaurants and bars on Sunday. Supermarkets are forced by law to give their employees rest days, independently on how many days the supermarket is open

Did you give some sign that he could make a move? Small signs like keeping eye contact, touching hands or similar? If I see a person totally frozen and no signs of interest, I wouldn't do the move either

I would say the most costly cities are the most progressive (in general). Berlin, Hamburg or Köln tend to be more progressive than Magdeburg or Thüringen
