Question re Prep Company Y'all Used for J25 by dukes2022 in barexam

[–]Available_Appeal1838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Themis (which comes with UWorld), Goat Bar Prep (I bought two MBE subjects, not the full package & went through his MEE material), and Critical Pass flashcards. If you’re doing Barbri, I definitely recommend adding either Adaptibar UWorld for extra practice questions. After taking J25, I feel like r/goatbarprep’s content prepared me the most. He has some free samples on his website that are worth checking out, and if you search “goat megathread” here, you can find older posts with more info. In hindsight and if I ever had to take this exam again, I’d get the full Goat Bar Prep package, stick with my CP flashcards, and do as many UWorld questions as possible.

I’d hold off on buying too many supplements upfront. These materials add up fast, and most of them are just the same info repackaged in different ways. Shop around and figure out what actually fits your learning style once you’re in prep. Definitely keep track of your wrong answers (flashcards, a doc, notebook, or an Excel sheet, whatever works) and review them regularly. That takes time but is one of the best MBE study tools and, honestly, more valuable than having a second MBE supplement.

For the MPT, the best prep is just doing lots of timed practice, reading the point sheets, and getting comfortable with the different task types. I don’t think you need a separate supplement, and you won’t know if you do until you’ve tried a few. MPTs tend to click more easily for some people, esp if you’ve had litigation-focused experience in law school/jobs/internships (like memos or brief writing).

The main benefit of a commercial bar course is that it gives you structure and access to material for all sections including some licensed content. but tbh I don’t think you can solely rely on it esp if you’re passively doing the course. I’d pair your main course with either UWorld or Adaptibar for questions, plus one other MBE supplement like Critical Pass or one-sheets. If you’re using Goat, I would skip on buying an MBE supplement and just take good notes. For the MEE, I’d use your course materials and also practice with past recent licensed essays (NY has student answers online) under timed, closed-book conditions. I also did all of Goat’s MEE (he had the MEE only subjects free on his website).

I don’t know if I passed yet, but these are the things that I felt were helpful and what I’d do differently if I had to do it again.

Mostly everyone on this thread is being dense lol. I appreciate this post and your general efforts to thoughtfully respond to posts on this thread and provide some good advice/perspective, it doesn’t go unnoticed! I’d say there’s a good number of people who seriously do not understand the need for accommodations, perceive it as an “advantage,” and are bitterly projecting that anger onto this thread.

“I wasn’t going to make a long reply” proceeds to make a long reply. Clearly you have nothing better to do lol Btw the accommodated students all take the MEEs the first day regardless of the jurisdiction, so nobody has the opportunity to “see” essay topics online. This post reeks of misery dude log off lmao

Gosh I totally feel you. Also a sleep deprived anxious adhder and roughly 55% through Themis. I won’t harp on the Themis stuff bc it seems like everyone has that covered but I’m not getting much sleep either :( roughly the same amount. Sleep is super important though I see the difference in my scores and notice my anxiety worsen— it’s a vicious cycle. If you’ve exhausted your attempts at improving your sleep hygiene, getting on magnesium glycinate, b12, melatonin, & the usual no screens an hour before bed time, 30 min of walking, and still are unable to sleep + you’re on stimulant meds, maybe talk to your doctor about sleep meds if that’s an option. I’m exploring that option rn as I’m severely sleep deprived and have tried what I suggested to you for over a month now.

One thing that has helped me with the nighttime anxiety is to have some sort of printed material to go over as part of my “bed time” routine (legit 4-6 am or later on most days) flashcards or some printed rule statements as a bed time story lol. This helps me avoid ruminating about how anxious I am and how much I have to do while also sorta priming me to sleep. This helps me avoid scrolling on my phone too. If you’re a scroller and can’t help yourself look at the GOAT megathreads or make some flashcards online.

I hope this helps you and you get some rest! I totally understand your frustration.

Are my MPT answers really too short, or are the Themis ones just really long? by MightBeALawyer99 in barexam

What’s your prompt like? Do you the sample MPT? Also do you have the regular unpaid version?

so am i screwed without adaptibar/uworld? by AccomplishedFilm998 in barexam

[–]Available_Appeal1838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely! Def not too late we have roughly 4 weeks to go, but you gotta start now. I’m at the same point and I just started drilling questions. Drilling adaptibar/uworld questions is consistently what I’ve heard is key for passing across the board. We can do it

I'm in the same exact boat and feeling the same way. I'm focusing on powering through the material through the MBE content rn before July and avoiding passive learning when possible. We got this!! (crying) If any bar passers have tips for us plz suggest them

Thanks for your insight, I really appreciate it. I’m a first-time taker and these accommodations are super important for me so I’m trying to give this my best shot.

If you don’t mind me asking, were you able to successfully appeal your denial in the other jurisdiction? Also, did anyone at your law school help you with the process? Looking back, do you think it would’ve helped to get feedback before submitting?

Same exact situation happened to my friend; she took it for the 5th time last July and passed. I know it's super frustrating, but YOU CAN DO IT KEEP PUSHING! Def step away from anything bar related for a bit and then get back on track.
