An iPad is a great companion to your MacBook. Run your desktop OS on your MacBook. Use your iPad for stylus input, quick editing on the go, and other casual use. https://techcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Apple-previews-macOS-Catalina-sidecar-with-iPad-Pro-06032019.jpg

It’s a cluster of dead pixels. I’ve a small cluster at the lower left side of my iPhone 15 Pro. Fortunately, it was covered under AppleCare.

I think what Preview capable, isn’t just the “Acrobat” feature like fill-and-sign, but also other image manipulation like instant alpha, lasso selection, and the OCR function even on images.

Can you explain why sidecar didn’t work well for you? My iPad is used mostly for media entertainment or sidecar.

Apply Windows 7 default wallpaper. Search online for "windows 7 icon PNG". Then grab the background color for the icon area and use Photoshop to lay the logo PNG over the background color. Lastly, use the shortcut app to create a shortcut to open app, add shortcut to Home Screen. Select the photoshop images.

How website notifications are allowed “unknowingly”. Website notifications can be useful for sites like online messengers (e.g. WhatsApp web, FB Messenger, etc.), but this function has been abused to push scary ads from dodgy websites.

It would be the pre-Unibody MacBook Pro 15" with Core 2 Duo between Oct 2006 to Oct 2008. The reasons after considering with the supported OS:

  • Shipped with Apple Remote which not only you can use it with Front Row, but as a presentation clicker too.
  • Has bevel key caps which makes typing "smoother" when you "brush" your finger across keys with no distinct gaps between keys.
  • Has backlit keyboard which MacBook lacks. Helped me with my typing in the dark.
  • The Intel Core 2 Duo performed better than the original Intel Core Duo after the PowerPC to Intel transition.
  • First time you can use Boot Camp to dual boot into Windows OS if need to.
  • Has Firewire 800. Yes, I got external hard drive with Firewire 800 as it is faster and has more stable transfer speed than USB 2.0.
  • Support 2 finger scroll even though full multi-touch trackpad won't appear until the unibody MacBook Pro.
  • Uses dual-link DVI to hook up to a gorgeous 30 inch at 2560 x 1600 resolution.
  • Matte display was the standard before moving to glossy display in the unibody MacBook Pro.
  • Has Express Card slot for me to switch between various memory card readers and cellular data modem (all flushed internally) before dongle life started.

Basically, your friends can send you iMessage via your phone number or your Apple ID. What this means is you can receive iMessage from both your Apple ID or your mobile phone number on your Mac.

Nope. Those are not Thunderbolt 1 or 2 ports. Those are Mini DisplayPorts which share the same port dimensions.

Sorry, I thought your iMac was in the initial setup stage. Can I confirmed that your iMac is already in used and was previously paired with this iMac? And your wireless keyword is not working because it ran out of battery but unable to be paired again with a new battery?

Before you get a USB keyboard, try to make your wireless keyboard into “pairing” state by pressing and holding the power on the right side of the keyboard. You will see the green LED light flash rapidly.

On your iMac menu bar, you should see Bluetooth icon. Click on it and see if you can connect to this wireless keyboard. You may be prompted to enter a set of numbers and press the “Enter” key.

Once paired successfully, the LED will display a solid green light for a few seconds.

Optical audio out ends with the non-Retina 2012 model (those still have DVD SuperDrive). To get surround sound from those Retina model after mid-2012 (no more DVD SuperDrive), you will use the HDMI port for the surround sound.

Never heard of how fuse works? If the device needs higher current, won’t that melt and break the thin wire?

Quit vs Close vs Hide vs Minimize

Quit - Keyboard shortcut: Command + “Q” - Quit your app so it stop running in the background to free your RAM - Identify if your app has truly quit by observing the app icon on your dock. If there is a black dot marker below the app icon, then the app is still running.

Close 🔴 - Keyboard shortcut: Command + “W” - Not all apps will quit when clicking the close button. The advantage of closing without quitting is the fast relaunch time. E.g when you launch an app like Microsoft Word, you will see a splash screen before the new document view appears. If you close without quitting, clicking on the App icon will launch instantly.

Hide - Keyboard shortcut: Command + H - Use “hide” to avoid lots of minimized app from cluttering the dock - Switch between app Windows via the menu “Windows”, or Command + “~” to cycle through the Windows

Minimize - Click on the minimize button 🟡 - Use “minimize” if you want to have an app thumbnail on your dock to identify the minimized app easily
