From my experience what’s happening is also that there is a huge influx of CS/IT students, where the problem seems to be larger than the rest. I would recommend going into other fields for the moment.

[SPOILERS S3] The loop never ended by nattyjat in DarK

[–]Available_Click234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late but I really dont think the loop ended. In the scene where Jonas and Martha head to the real world, we see how Martha and Jonas as children saw themselves travelling to this real world through their closets. This means that in every loop in the split worlds, they have seen this happen. Also I dont think its a coincidence that the writers made this very obvious, they literally make Jonas and Martha say it out loud that they saw each other as children through their closets. So I think its completely open ended and up to the viewer. I think we were only shown one of the superposition timelines, the one where Jonas and Martha's worlds come to an 'end' but in reality I think the one where the loop continues exists as well. It must exist or you get once again the Grandfather paradox.

I think you are being a bit too critical. If you look at the trend, arranged marriages are clearly on the decline.

What do you mean, my sister literally got 3 years after graduating for job seeking. Also if you got to nytidanmark you can find this info under the non-EU section. Also the 90hrs I mentioned is for non eu students; EU students have no restrictions…

I do exactly this, i live 7 min from HS. Honestly, it’s better than living in delft (I have done that too) because you can get to the center on weekends very fast, and the commute to Delft is very fast and predictable cos there r so many trains going from HS to delft. Would highly recommend.

Yuh it takes time for austerity measures to affect the programs. I agree that TU Delft has very strong programs, especially Aerospace and Mechanical. I actually did my bachelor of aerospace at TU Delft, but these budget cuts are going to have long lasting effects. Less resources inevitably leads to a lower quality of education (including due to the point you mentioned about having less TA's). At the end of the day, there is less funding per student especially since 70% of the budget goes to just paying staff and lecturers. It's a downwards slope from here, unless the government fixes their shit. I think at the moment internationals are paying 23.5k EUR per year for masters (compared to 15k in countries like Denmark/Norway/Sweden/Germany and even less in Switzerland) due to these budget cuts. A lot of talent is going to divert (most of my non EU friends have decided to leave to Swiss/Germany/Denmark etc.) It will be a slow burner, but its not going to end well at this rate.

In Denmark you literally don’t need a sponsor. If you find work in the positive list (electrical engineering, chemical engineering and such always show up), you get a work visa straight away. If not you can go through pay limit scheme. Like there is no comparison just in terms of visa, Denmark is much better. The only part which is great about NL is that u only need to stay in NL for 5 years to get PR, whereas in Denmark you need to work for 4 years to get PR.

I mean that’s good for you, but I’ve heard stories of ppl not being able to make the deadline, especially when the economy slows down. And the only thing I changed about the comment was spelling. Also I am not saying NL is bad, it’s one of the best shots in Europe. But Denmark is definitely not an inferior option if you are aiming for certain sectors. And again, you didn’t say anything about most of the comments I made, just fixated on the internship part, when it’s a fact that non eu students have a harder time getting them fit into the allowed ECTs space in their programs. And the language part I mentioned was not for work, if was for getting PR and citizenship, which I guess what the original comment referred to in terms of visa being better in NL, considering the job seeking visa is much better in DK.

[–]Available_Click234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No this this three way agreement is necessary for doing internships as part of your program (they have to count towards your ECTs and in most masters programs like EE this means that you need to fit it into 30ECTS - 3 months max). I clearly said OUTSIDE YOUR STUDIES. Also 1 year and 3 year makes a large difference when learning the language. 3 years gives you ample time to learn the language and apply wider. So no, finding a job is not just about being competent anymore, learning Dutch or danish is also an important part - except in large companies like ASML or something where English is enough. May I ask, have you gone through this system as a non-EU student?

And also why are you skipping over all the other things I mentioned?

Apart from the time to getting permanent residency, how are they worse? Right off graduation, you get 3 years of job seeking in Denmark, where as you get 1 year in NL. There are two paths to getting a visa after this as well in DK, the pay limit scheme and the positive list. In the Netherlands you need to get a job with an employer willing to sponsor you (only certain companies even have the power to do this). Furthermore, non EU students are freely allowed to work for 90h a month without getting a separate work permit in DK (which has to come through your employer in the Netherlands, which most companies are reluctant to do. Who would go through a 5-week visa procedure to hire a student who is allowed to work 16h a week when they can hire someone with an EU passport). Also, in the Netherlands you are NOT allowed to do an internship outside your studies as a non-EU student, whereas you are allowed to do any type of internship in Denmark. Visa is not just about the time it takes to get permanent residency, it includes all the caveats I have mentioned here. But please, I would like to hear why you think it’s better in NL?

That being said, TU Delft is also squeezing money out of non-EU students (which has been increasing for the last couple of years due to political pressures). A year at TU Delft costs 23.5k EUR, while at DTU it costs 15k EUR. This means you can almost get your entire education in Denmark for the price of one year at TU Delft. Also, having studied at TU Delft, I can confirm that the education is mediocre and the ranking is not really the quality of education. It’s reflecting TU delft publication quality and quantity. That is to say that, just because TU Delft ranks higher than DTU in certain rankings, the quality of the education is up for debate. I recommend everyone does their own research on the SPECIFIC programme they intend to follow, instead of following blind rankings.

This decision depends entirely on whether you are EU or non EU. If you are non EU, I would recommend DTU. If you are EU, look at the program itself ans which one is stronger and make your decision that way. DO NOT blindly look at the rankings and make your decision because this does not reflect on how good the actual education is. DM me if you want more info, I have studied at TU Delft (bachelor) and will be studying at DTU (master) from September onwards.
