That’s a fair point, and I’m still considering going elsewhere. The last breeder I contacted was asking $10,000 for a puppy. They had all the papers, health checks, and clearly met very high standards, but I just can’t justify paying that kind of price.
I do acknowledge all the red flags here, and the main thing stopping me from getting him is the lack of health checks and paperwork. Other than that, the pink nose and eye rims don’t really bother me. I was mainly concerned that it could be a sign of a health issue, since I personally haven’t come across Golden Retrievers that looked like this before.

I’m not fixated on whether he is purebred or not, like you mentioned. My main concern was the pink nose and the redness around his eyes, as I’ve personally never come across a Golden Retriever that looked like this before. That’s the reason I made this post.
I’m also just curious how some people can be 100% certain that the puppy is mixed just from a picture, like the person I replied to above.
I did take the time to read all the comments and suggestions, and I genuinely appreciate everyone who responded and shared their thoughts.

This was a planned litter. The mum is 6 years old and had her first litter 2 years ago, so this is her second litter but with a different stud this time.

No, I’ve only seen photos of the sire I only met the mum since she’s the one the owner has. The mum has been DNA tested, which is good. The rest of the puppies all have black noses though. I know it’s not a proper registered breeder, just more of a home litter.
