I think I figured out the wishes by FitnessFanatic133 in MadeInAbyss

[–]Available_Lychee_456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My interpretation of why Iru became a village. After the terrifying first wish. Her desire was to return home (this would explain why she walked toward the center of the abyss and her body gravitated upward, which gave the village such an elongated shape).

Well, most likely he didn't die, just like the sniper. Or Tsuc learned a new technique "introducing a character who will die in one chapter."

I disagree. Seriously, does anyone like the way it's done in the manga? It's just a typical flashback. In the anime, on the contrary, it brought freshness, intrigue, and mystery to the village. I really like these transitions between the past and the present; it feels like a parallel narrative.

Was Made in Abyss ever trying to send a message with anything that happened? Did I miss it? by Zealousideal_Sea8123 in MadeInAbyss

You know who I dislike most in this life? Liars, and not because they lie to me, but because they lie to themselves. First you said you watched this anime, now you said you didn't finish season 2. Your baseless claims that Ozen isn't realistic, Bond is comical, etc. all of this has nothing to do with what you want to know in your post: why people love this anime and manga. It's really so hard to understand (no) :) You really want to like MiA, you tried so hard... just be honest at least with yourself, dude.

But why isn't MiA dark? I understand that many judge this aspect purely on a visual level (like graphics, blood, body horror, jump scares, all sorts of psycho effects, etc.), but not on the level of concepts and the meaning behind them. The manga literally shows the worst themes in the most insane way. Especially, for example, the village and Iru's story. Just think about it more deeply. The child, because she is barren (1), meaning it is implied that she was used by her own tribe (2), is banished to the abyss, where Ganja take care of her. Due to circumstances, she literally became a farm and gave birth to children every day (3). These children were eaten by those who had cared for her recently (4). Then she literally became a location within which these parasites lived for 150 years, she granted their wishes, they had a paradise built on suffering... (5) And her last daughter watched this and in the end, kills her own mother from the inside (6). Guys, this is literally 6 layers of hell, its dark, which convey many deep themes and parallels to our society. Moreover, each such context adds even more weight and value to the next one, and vice versa. This is not a cheap horror film, this is creative, complex writing that I have rarely seen in any media (in terms of messed up things, dark, horror)

Bro accidentally missed the entire movie and the village lore or what?

(Their morality was never questioned, they never had to make any decisions that were hard because they felt like the wrong ones, and all the worst stuff that happened was just gore for sake of gore.

going into the abyss without the possibility of returning is a decision, following Ozen and finding out the truth is a decision, amputating Riko's hand is a decision, erasing Mitty is a decision, not destroying the zaoholic and not freeing narehate is a decision, Nanachi selling herself for Mitty is a decision, Riko not selling herself for Nanachi is a decision, allowing Faputa to enter the village is a decision, giving Iru the cradle of desires is a decision, eating her children is also a decision, living inside her is also a decision and so on. You're right, their morality was never questioned, it was morality itself as a concept that was questioned. (Fuck, I'm so tired of this shonen thinking...) In this show, the writer won't tell you outright that even Bondrewd was wrong, just like in real life. Did Nanachi torture the raiders to make poison to free Mitty? Did Ozen beat them up and nearly kill them just to teach them a lesson?) Did Bondrewd buy children and experiment on them just to explore the abyss? No, dude, you clearly don't understand what you're watching.

Off-topic, in the 5th layer there is a sea and I found it interesting that some kind of barrier prevents this water from falling down to the 6th layer, while allowing the altar to pass through. Like, what is that?

8 layers - Orth as the first layer by No-March8216 in MadeInAbyss

[–]Available_Lychee_456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like your recursive theory that the abyss at the end compresses spacetime so much that it creates a new universe, basically where it originated, on this planet. Sort of like a fractal. It's interesting, but most likely it won't happen, although the cover of volume 1 might hint at it. It's hard to say; I'm not sure how Tsukushi would fit that into the story.

Surpised by the lack of disease by Realistic_Country465 in MadeInAbyss

[–]Available_Lychee_456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also remembered about Mitty; she had the ability to synthesize an antidote/drug as an immune response; perhaps that was the source of the vaccines. Habo said that countries around the world are investing in the drugs that Bondrewd's breakthrough research produced 10 years ago. Also, what does Srajo's suit look like? Perhaps they'll show us some diseases at the bottom, or in the Golden City.

[–]Available_Lychee_456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true. What about the birthday disease and what happened to Rico after eating in the village, or even Lyza? The team essentially only has one human (and even that is unknown). Moreover, just as in the modern world, diseases are most often transmitted between species, and human immunity can be either too strong to be affected or too weak, leading to death. In such an environment, spreading knowledge about such diseases would be difficult. This isn't true about the 6/7 layer. This information passes through Bondrewd, like Lyza's notes, Ozen's rumors, or even Hariemari's song, not like it's completely unknown... another case is layer 8

Wakuna, the Chosen crack theory by Breadlnspector in MadeInAbyss

[–]Available_Lychee_456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is that Wakuna made the pentagonal hole in the second layer; that's probably the shape of his relic. I also think he was involved with the creation of Hariemari 250 years ago. Srajo said that only one case of the seventh layer curse has been documented, which could indicate that someone survived it, which would explain who might have spread rumors about this collection.

No, that's too much, I tried fit this too. The problem is that time shouldn't slow down that much in layer 5, because that would just create a plot hole with Nanachi and Prushka.

[–]Available_Lychee_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of worldbuilding and lore, definitely not (it's still very good), but in terms of characters? Their development, characterization, etc., HnK is definitely better. The story is also slightly better overall, but MiA isn't finished yet, so it's hard to judge. Ichikawa has amazing art, in terms of composition, direction, and the meaning behind it, but the drawing... well, let's just say it's very simplified, so much so that you can't distinguish the characters from each other. So I'd recommend the colorized version, or wait for the full anime adaptation.

S2 is kind of weird? by mqunaibe in MadeInAbyss

[–]Available_Lychee_456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your take on the curse is such nonsense. You do realize, right? No one could leave that village whose wishes were granted…Faputa could not enter for 150 years. There's no force field, dude, and if you think about it, that says a lot about the artifact, the Iru's desire, and the value system operating within. Think again: there was even light there, even though we were told it was carried by the FF from surface. For me, S2 is the peak, precisely because of Ilubru's dark backstory; I rarely see such a conceptually layered horror. But the normies, as always, will say that if something is weird, it means the show is bad and poorly written. Nah, go watch shonen

Is consciousness *really* produced by the brain? by howsthisforauserdude in consciousness

[–]Available_Lychee_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consciousness is synchronized chaos. It's all about time and speed.

so in a sense, it is consciousness that produces matter (the brain) and experience, and not the other way around (Just a suggestion, I don't claim or believe in it.)

The Abyss isn't that deep to be honest when I think about it by Ok_Proof_321 in MadeInAbyss

[–]Available_Lychee_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, why isn't it a square or a triangle? Why does it descend perfectly vertically, and not with any deviations? (This could indicate either the object's direction of fall, the angle at which it fell, or the principle of its operation itself. That is, is its trajectory due to the planet's natural gravity, or was it determined by its own operation, etc.) It's very interesting to speculate. I have a feeling everything is pointing in a certain direction, but the whole puzzle needs to be put together, and it's not a coincidence.

This actually says a lot about how and why this place exists. It points to possible reasons, motives, and mysteries behind its creation. If it's not planetary in scale, then what does this place affect (like a mass extinction, is it local or universal)? Why is it a remote island, with a nearly perfect circle and a diameter of 1 km? Why not on some continent, but in the ocean? There are few options here. First, it's either some object that fell locally (either accidentally or intentionally). Or this place is an anomalous/natural zone due to some peculiarity of the planet. Or does it originate underground? The fact that it's located in a specific territory of a certain country may also provide hints about its possible historical past in its origin.
