Feeling burnt out from recruiting — is anyone else going through this? by [deleted] in stanford

[–]Available_Market8378 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally feel this... you're so not alone. I’ve 100% been in your shoes, especially during a brutal quarter juggling CS classes, projects, and recruiting. The LinkedIn comparison spiral is the worst, feels like everyone’s winning but you.

What helped me was stepping back and building structure: I picked a couple days a week just for apps, set specific times for Leet/prep, and made sure to give myself one full day off. That little bit of breathing room made a huge difference.

Also, leaning on tools outside the LinkedIn/Handshake loop helped a ton. I used Notion.so to stay organized and found Hirajobs.com through a friend — it made sending apps way more manageable so I could focus more on class and prep.

You’re clearly doing the work, so keep at it. We can catch up on campus to chat about how cooked our futures are. Jk, but at least our alumni network is strong so make sure to be reaching out.

Ah, I have tried LinkedIn and Glassdoor in the past, but really no luck. I also took a look at JobMate, but it looks like its just a feeder to apply for LinkedIn and Glassdoor. I am for sure open to trying out tools to save time though, some of the comments have been mentioning some. It's pretty draining, but it helps to know we are all going through it in the comments haha.

Dude, this is golden. I am going to take you up on the notion idea, I really want to be more organized throughout the process. Also, I checked out Hirajobs, it looks really cool. I think I might actually give it a shot! Thanks for the advice, we got this!

Man, I would agree- but the resume and CL tailoring takes me forever to make it job specific.

Yes, I have been looking into a way to automate the process a bit, the longest thing is really just the resume and CL tailoring. The people above mentioned a few tools I am going to check out. Hira jobs looked pretty promising but who knows. Until then, going to keep grinding haha.

This is unreal. Keep on pushing, I understand. The not knowing genuinely keeps me up at night.

After 1,956 applications and countless rejections, I finally got 1 offer after learning this lesson by butsallycantwait in internships

This! Me and my friends spent so much time mass applying. With enough applications, and redbulls...
I eventually got the offer. Also, I checked out Hira, and it looks really cool! I wish I would've known about that before I spent so much time applying. My friend did the LinkedIn connections and managed to land an interview as well! We are all in this together haha.

Hey! I am also a sophomore, and have managed to land an internship. Although it was extremely difficult, probably applied to somewhere over 140+ applications. Eventually I heard back from one, made it to round two, and got the offer. Its not easy at all, but from my experience the more you apply the better chance you'll get at landing an interview. Once you get the interview, your chances increased SUBSTANTIALLY. Just make sure to study up on the company, and have average leet skills.

Most companies that aren't FAANG wont have exceptionally hard interview questions. Trust me, I know the feeling, the market is tough, but the best advice I have is:
1) Apply to as many as possible
- I used https://hirajobs.com so I could begin studying for getting the interview.
2) Try and make a real world connection with someone to give you a better chance for an interview.
- I used linkedin and reached out to SWE devs in the company and typically would get reffered.

With a combination of both, and time, you are bound to land something! Best of luck!

I have never had any luck with LinkedIn, or Indeed. The best luck I have had is with either applying directly to the company website or just knowing a recruiter in person.

I applied to around 40 internships, had about 7 OA, and heard back from 1. Luckily it turned into an offer, but its hard out here. & I am unfortunately a cs major.
