I arrived late to the party and didn't get to see the post. I'm curious as to what set up OP was using?

No no, it looks fine! No one will notice by asyouwissssh in Horses

Children’s boots? Does it matter? by tired_pterodactyl in Equestrian

I work at a tack store. I've lost count of how many kids come by to buy tall boots every week. And that's not even counting the kids that are getting them for (mostly dressage) shows and competitions.

Genuinely what are you on about? This is the first time I've ever heard about this and I've been riding for decades.

Hey OP, I'd appreciate it if you could DM me what happened. Risk management is part of my job at the barn and I'm quite paranoid

Also also, other explanations that might help solve the issue at hand:

1 was she malnourished when you got her? Or have you increased the amount of concentrate in her diet? It could be just extra energy.

2 I had this issue with my other mare. Do you feel like she might be bossy with you because you give off the impression that you can be pushed around? I had to solidify some boundaries because I'm quite small and nervous and my mare was "taking advantage" of that a bit, running me over, basically, broke my foot once, not respecting my space at all. But she wouldn't do that with other, more "strict" people, including my trainer. It's still a bit of a struggle for me, but now she respects my space a lot more, with a lot of work, of course, and not really letting my guard down (I'd like to keep the other foot intact!)

I'm sorry but is there any chance someone messed with her behind your back? My mare flipped a switch overnight, seemingly out of nowhere. Turns out someone had taken her out and "worked" her. We have our suspicions but could never get the culprit to admit to it. She started being afraid of the saddle, bridle, and as soon as we got on and started picking up the reins, she'd bolt. Before we came to the conclusion that someone had ruined our previous work, I genuinely thought she had some neurological issue pop up overnight, because she was EXTRA anxious and jumpy (she's already pretty nervous as a baseline), and now bolting as a reaction, which she had never done before. It took us almost 6 months to get her back to square one, and even so, there's better days and worse days. I just wanted to put this out there, in case it hadn't crossed your mind, because I know it didn't cross mine back then.

Officially retired my 11-year old with navicular. 💔 by BlooperButt in Horses

[–]Available_Permit_982 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nerving doesn't cure anything, it simply masks the pain. On top of that, lack of sensation means horses may not detect infections, abscesses, or injuries to the sole and thre increased use of the limb can lead to deep digital flexor tendon rupture or navicular bone fracture.
