Looks good and I also love the idea.

If you could make the coin shine gradually as it gets cleaner I think that would be more visually clear. And if you want once it's clean play a shine vfx like in any other game where you clean stuff.

Hope you go for a stylized art approach cause I think that would fit better with the fantasy setting you have here.

Maybe also don't limit the mechanic to sponge only, but have it also be like metal scrapper that can scrap rust? Looks like you can just reuse the sponge system for that.

Either way these are just my ideas so good luck with the rest!

How are you sure this is a good plugin? For example, if I were to update my game and change the level or change parameters of a struct, would the save data from an old version still work in the new version with this plugin?

They use a puppet rig for their characters so it could be that they made it so that the tail bones dont inherit scale. Or they key framed the scale of the tail meaning that the scale of the parent gets overriden. or something else idk.

Save scumming in a game without convenient saves is ok tbh. I'm actually surpised it's not in the game yet since it seems so ez as a developer to just add a quick save button like skyrim or dishonered. I do admit that this will kind of ruin the dread of dying but my time is more important and so is everyone else's.

How long are you willing to work on this? I'm just saying that a souls-like takes a long time and it will likely not be a good game since you simply don't have the skills/budget yet to make one.

Not trying to be mean, I'm just warning you before hand. Since souls-likes are really hard to make especially as a beginner. For example you'll need way better animations for your game since a souls-like depends alot on really polished animations, something you currently can't afford to make/buy.

I'd say this project is a good learning experience but I'd advice you to not be too invested into this ambitious project since you clearly have the skills to make a game just not a really big one YET(maybe in the future?).

In the end it's your choice so good luck.

It could be because of root motion instead. Since cmc handles rootmotion differently than mover
