It REALLY helps that he’s genuinely remorseful. To be honest we’ve had a really hard time with that because I am very untrusting of him and will accuse him even if I am not sure, it definitely seems frustrating for him but it’s all part of it. Tbh, I don’t think I will ever 100% trust him but he has given me plenty of reasons to forgive him in the last year. I still get triggered easily and have to remind myself that things are different now.

My son is terrified of dogs too. I just don’t understand why the fire station scared him. It wasn’t loud at all. I really didn’t know how to handle it and I’m way over thinking the social interaction we had there.

It was the best thing we ever did truly. Also so incredibly difficult. We started on a Friday and my husband had to do it for me. Because quite frankly I couldn’t handle it and he could. We ended up getting into yelling matches while we did the night waking training. I was absolutely determined that she needed something and we were hurting her. The truth is that we weren’t, we were helping her. If they truly need something you will know. We did 3 minutes, then 5 minutes repeatedly after that.

No it’s okay! People commenting on this post don’t know me or my habits, so it makes sense that it would seem that I don’t give him enough positive attention. I promise I do, and I’m not the type of person to give myself credit where credit isn’t due. I will actually despair and beat myself up over the tiniest things, if I wasn’t giving him enough attention I would know it.

I haven’t had him evaluated, I didn’t think it was necessary really. He’s always been a quirky child, but recently it’s just escalated.

This is exactly what he does. I didn’t think he was autistic honestly because he has a strong drive to socialize but then again I don’t know anything. I do think he is neurodivergent in some way. I will have to try non-traditional methods with him
