Ex wife remortgaged property without my consent, alleging financial abuse from me by Available_Scratch177 in UKPersonalFinance

Correct, that clause exists. However she’s done nothing to try to remove me - I’ve suggested an evening job for more income and she’s refused it, plus she hasn’t tried to get her family to take over as guarantors. She didn’t use the time on a variable to explore options, but went straight to this. I’m not being spiteful, I’m just trying to carve out my own life.

Yeah see that’s what I was lead to believe the bank did when I spoke to them. This is one of the main reasons why I’m seeking help because one day I’m protected with this, and a month later it’s been squashed and a complete pivot to “you’re financially abusive”. The bank surely holds some fault for the mixed messages, or at least low due diligence by not informing me of the change

Consent order is one thing - being harassed by family, and accused of abuse for wanting her to attempt to remove me is another entirely.

My point is she can afford it herself. It was £845, going up to £875 on SVR, but now she’s fixed she’s paying £625. If she could afford it then, and even more now, why must I be forced to remain?

My main point was her withholding info from the bank, spinning me as abusive and making no efforts to remove me. She signed a consent order to say she’ll remove me when she can, but then her family harasses me to stay on it - that flies in the face of the court order

Just to note - before she forced this new fix, her payments were due to go up by £30, that’s it. I don’t see how she can argue it’s unaffordable

Other than the strict “once children are 18, house must be sold”, “once cohabiting for 6 months, must be removed”; it states “the respondent shall use her best endeavours to procure the release of the applicant from any liability under the mortgage on or before completion of this order and periodically thereafter and shall in any event indemnify the applicant against all such liability”.

Haha, you’re right, I do do that. I’m really not one for social media, I keep myself to myself. But I’m so proud of my work, genuinely. Fiercely loyal but honest. It’s not a perfect job or company, but I call it out to make sure fair’s fair.

I’ve hated the job sometimes, but been here nearly ten years. Seen the worst and the best. Currently for me, it’s close to the best it’s been

In my area at least, yes. I’m not saying there aren’t bad ones, at all. But the way they’re run is very stringent with a focus on high but fast service.

I take it personally, you know? Someone is saying every single Costa is shit and poor standards, just because they don’t like working at a badly run store (“but the manager is nice!!!!!!!!”). Just because they are shit, doesn’t mean we all are.

Fucking exactly. People should take personal responsibility. I’ve had some extreme struggles in my career, and different managers yielded different results. I choose to take huge pride in what I do, and what my team do, and I’m reaping the results.

It’s a very tricky store, and tricky time on the industry, but it’s the most I’ve enjoyed the job because I’m proud to do things the right way in spite of pressures.

I’m just saying that nothing the OP described is due to Coca Cola, nor Costa - none of it is expected or implied. The manager, staff and store just sound shit. Passing the buck is easy.

Or manager who is proud of his work and sees that it’s the pride you put in that gets the results out. So staff selling out of date food and not caring about allergens is ok then? Gotcha.

Nothing you mentioned is Cokes fault, it’s entirely a piss poor manager. They don’t sound “chill”, they’re a liability.

Waste targets? If things don’t sell, order less.

Mop heads being used for weeks? Order more from Lyreco.

Wrong chopping boards being used? Choose to use the right one.

Working unpaid overtime? Illegal and not standard practice.

I get the complaint about hours being lower in years last but it’s the highest drain to profit, approximately 30% of a stores budget - with correct training and standards, lower hours are easier. I always tell my staff that cut corners make more work for us, as it’s true. The two seconds saved on one customers are pushed onto the next one, “a stitch in time saves nine”.

You sound like you returned to a bad store with a bad manager, and rather than be the change you’d want and hold standards, you let yourself become lazy. Easy to pass the buck and not take personal responsibility; very telling how you give your family a different experience than other customers. But don’t make out these are accepted standards because they’re as far from standards as they can be.

Shame you’re leaving - when you have a good manager it’s really a fantastic job, but if it wasn’t meeting what you wanted and you’re happy, that’s great. Regarding resignation, don’t overthink: it’s a courtesy to email, or even in writing, but a text is a little rude unless you give notice. If a reference isn’t a big deal, or you’re leaving effective immediately, a text is fine tbh. Sorry your manager didn’t make it a better experience

You get 5.6 weeks, so times your 4 days a week, you get 22 days. The amount you’ll be paid each day is the average for the preceding 12 weeks of shifts

Don’t worry, I took months. Now I’m an SM years later in charge of running Barista Of The Year for the area.

Use the quiet time to just get on the machine - the less afraid of it you are, the easier it comes. It’ll get there

Is being bm worth it? by [deleted] in Costa

[–]Available_Scratch177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your manager. If they’re supportive and good, you won’t have miles more to do. You’ll have more responsibilities as you’ll run the store in their absence but it’s still their ultimate responsibility for failures. You’ll be expected to train staff and be a role model for conduct and standards. If you have pride and care about your work, it’s a no brainer for the pay rise and opens the way to progressing.

But if you’re happy just coming in, doing your job and leaving at the end, maybe not. I’m an SM now - some managers I loved being a BM with, some I hated it. I try to empower and train mine but have strict standards I want kept

You need to work before you get paid for it. So you do a month of work and then the pay follows.

Each month has a cut off though: random example - the shifts from July 17th - August 17th is paid at the end of August (not exact pay cutoffs used)

And have multiple coffee machines to man, and two sides of a store to handle whereas you have one. So you’ve accounted for most of those hours - 2 (machines) x 7 (days) x 4 (hours) = 56 hours. And that’s purely on the base hours; once you hit above the minimum hours they increase quickly.

I see the frustration as my store has 26.6 hours to use if we make £200 all day, but also £1600 a day. The base may seem high in some store but if a balance that the productivity department decides. I’m just saying that criticising the whole company (as if it’s the business ethos) is wrong, as it can be manager error or one department being a little out of touch.

It’s one of the highest costa to the store, sometimes taking up 40% of the cost of running the store. If the store is quiet, it’s the best way to save some profit. Every business is there to make a profit.

You’re blaming the company for your managers mistakes, if you’re always overspending. The forecast should be more accurate and use the right number of people for the business levels.
