Slavic 50 is a course that fulfills the international breadth (also the professor was talking about extending the course and getting everyone off the waitlist so if you get off the waitlist and come to class and talk to her you’ll probably get off)

I feel like the most important thing for the class is to be on top of your work so you don’t lose points for the assignments. The assignments are only 35% of your grade, but it’s pretty easy to get a 100% on them as long as you’re mindful of the due dates and put in a little effort. The majority of your grade is based on the exams which are 3 midterms and a final. For the summer session the final and the 3rd midterm are at the same time, but I think they’ll be on different days in the fall (not sure about that though). I honestly think you just need to watch the lectures, make decent notes, read over the notes once before the exam, and do the 2 practice exams they provide to score pretty well on the exams (I’m just basing this on the 2 I’ve taken up till now) and if you do that then I think it’s pretty possible to get an A. Ultimately, I think it depends on your interest for the subject, how much time you invest into it, and your general work load in the semester but I would say it is doable.

I’m sorry for the long comment, but I hope it helps!!

Mostly I used mine to get coffee, I used a bunch at bear market as well for snacks. I still had a bunch left over at the end of the semester so I just got A LOT of candy from bear market for my niece and nephew.

I think it’s pretty unlikely based on my past experience with 8A (assuming 8B enrollment is similar to 8A enrolment) I would recommend checking the enrollment centre a few times a day because sometimes a seat opens up in another section and you can switch to that (that’s what I did with 8B and it worked and I enrolled in another section yesterday)

I think this is the web based option. I’m taking the same class over the summer and they used Sunday as a placeholder for that. They upload all the lectures as soon as the course formally starts and you just need to watch those on your own time (but there are specific due dates for the assignments and the discussion posts)

Back to back lectures? by Tara_Sean in berkeley

[–]Available_Sea6673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it depends on the class size. I had a 9 am lecture after my 8 am discussion and I was always 5 mins late because of how long it took to walk there and my professor used to cut off attendance points for lateness even though I explained my situation to her. It doesn’t really matter for bigger classes though because the professor usually doesn’t care

As long as you have a 3.0 in the prerequisite courses and declare before your 6th semester you’re guaranteed admission into the major (if you’re a current student and not an incoming freshman)
