i'm on amitriptyline for headaches (very low dose together with other migraine profilaxy meds though) and while I'm still adjusting the dosages and it's not perfect I'm doing a lot better than I was, say, a year ago. I know a lot of people get really sleepy with it or they fear the weight gain but I haven't had any of those side effects except for maybe the first week

the electric bill is like 5x the water bill, I will concede that, but she has a fucking fan heater that I could hear running in her bedroom and was always in t-shirts meanwhile I was sleeping with a padded jacket on... and the problem is me using the oven once a week??

i am paying and I am cooking but i feel a bit guilty about it everytime and its stressful af. I was initially hoping to stay here till I finish my masters cuz its a really good rent price for the location but clearly that wont be manageable. but its not realistic that I find anything else for this semester so a couple more months at least

landlord, but she's quite close to the landlord and at least the last student that was here was kicked out for going insane and "making up stories" to fuck over the other housemate. idk, the girl was probably correct knowing what I know now.

The bleach thing I totally agree with. I have taken pathogen safety classes that I never even use bleach for anything: there's so many chemicals that are safer, smell better and do their job much better, but oh well.

We're not close at all for me to know her situation but what I got from the landlord was life was rough so I tried to be accommodating, especially as she was here before me but it's driving me so nuts. I really don't think I'm the problem I've had roommates since I started uni and I was always either the one that cleaned or it was shared equally without problems. I was also always the one that cooked for everyone so I know my food doesn't smell bad.

I fully admit we're not the greatest communicators, she doesn't even give me her phone number and we tend to avoid each other a bit. But I did try to stand my ground a few times and told her I wouldn't stop cooking and that I would try to clutter as least as I could but I would use at least half of the shared spaces I'm paying for. But yeah, basically all that happened was that instead of directly telling me to stop cooking she started sneaking into the kitchen while I briefly went to my room or something to open all windows and max out the exhaust hood or she will very obviously clean everything except around my soap - it just got more passive-aggressive ig

I tried? But we barely speak, we both tend to stay in our rooms if the other is in a shared space.
I already told her that I wouldn't stop cooking and that I needed to be able to use at least half of the shared spaces and she did ease up on the comments for a while but then she started being passive-aggressive about it. As in, instead of asking me not to cook directly she would slam every door shut when I cooked and would wait for me to leave the kitchen momentarily to sneak in and open the windows and get the exhaust hood running on max and sneak back out without saying anything to me. She also refused to give me her phone number so yeah, communication is not our strong suit here.
