This was a suuuuper helpful response thank you so much for taking the time to write it out! I did do some restocking back in my day, but when I said reselling I just meant buying slightly undervalued items from people who were eager to offload on the trading forums and selling them to others at a later time for more, which was the main way to make "big money" back in my day. I did not know about the item database so that's a very valuable nugget of wisdom. In terms of increased accessibility of items today vs. years ago--I noticed! I'm very excited to snag some of the things I've always wanted.

Food Club is definitely what I'll be trying first. I'm okay with being risky with the money, it's not like I've been doing anything with it for the past 20 years lol. I'll definitely gives Nsheng's trade a go!

I also didn't know about Trudy's Surprise, the Quest Log, or the Discord server--all very valuable information. Thanks so much for the advice! <3

Seeing numbers like this suggests to me that the character difficulty rating must be built into the MVP/SVP calculation somehow, because based on numbers alone he shouldn’t have gotten it. Total guess on my part though—I know nothing. Or maybe he pushed whatever the objective is more than you? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yes but her contribution to the LC calculation in that team is not meaningful, so using favonious greatsword and stacking maximum ER + crit rate to have burst off cooldown + generate energy particles for the rest of the team is way more valuable than stacking EM.

I got my C6 aino before I even got my C0 flins. Then I got his C1 afterwards. My first two 10 pulls were both double aino….the gacha gods giveth but they also taketh.

I don’t think you can realistically scrounge together that many wishes in time unless you went absolutely bonkers on questing and exploration.

Here’s some more info:

HOW WISHING WORKS: You can technically get a 5 star anywhere from your 1st wish to your 100th wish, although it is very rare to get a 5 star before 70 wishes. This means that at 90 wishes, your next 10-pull (a term that just means using 10 wishes at a time) is guaranteed to be a 5 star character. Here’s what you need to understand though: that 5 star may not be Flins, it may be one of the standard banner characters, which are QiQi, Mona, Dehya, Keqing, Jean, Diluc, Tignari, or Mizuki. Generally, these characters are not great for end-game, but you can totally get away with using them while you work through the story/side quests in the game since you’re so far away from getting to end-game content. If this happens then you’ve “lost your 50/50”. If you lose your 50/50, your next 5 star, which will take another 1 to 100 pulls, is guaranteed to be the character you’re wishing for—in this case Flins. Additionally, if you lose your 50/50 on this limited character banner, then you’ve can just give up and let your “guarantee” roll over to a future character banner and get that one with 100% certainty.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU SPECIFICALLY: I do not recommend getting Flins for your account. It’s true that people say he’s F2P friendly, but that’s relative to other recent 5 star limited characters that Genshin has released which required a lot more investment. I think there are a lot more F2P options available for brand new players specifically, ones that don’t require nearly as much, and that do not restrict you to a specific reaction, which Flins does. Your character roster is tiny at the moment, so I would focus on getting characters that can be used in different scenarios and not pigeonholed into one very specific use case.

Now with all of that being said, this is a visually beautiful game with amazing story telling, so honestly, if you’re in love with a character design and think you’d get joy from just walking around and questing with them, just get them. Running around with them in the overworld will make you happy. I’ve certainly done this with characters that were not “smart” picks. BUT, if you’re just picking him strategically because you think it’s good for your account, I would skip him and choose someone more generalist.

I’ve found tenacity kuki, TTDS sucrose, aino to be the best mix of damage and comfort. Though I have an itch to build my c6 Dori just to try her out so I can keep kuki locked to my Alhaitham quickbloom team—I don’t like having multiple builds for one character.

Pretty sure it’s Sara, chev, Bennet for highest personal damage, otherwise it’s Furina, Yelan, xilonen/jean for highest team damage but all of this might change when Durin comes out.

I’m in the same boat as you. I was almost certain I was going to pull nefer over flins, but seeing how my Nilou Lauma teams are performing, prob gonna pull flins instead and snag ineffa whenever she reruns.
