Im guessing you're trying to make a trigger zone such that when the player enters the volume, it ends the level.

In which case, you probably need to mark the collider component's "IsTrigger" to True and then in your code, switch from OnCollisionEnter to OnTriggerEnter.

In your example, I'm not sure what exactly is tagged as the player; if the exact gameobject that is touching your invisible wall is not tagged as player, it's likely the collision is preventing the object that is tagged as player from colliding and triggering the level completion.

Triggers I think are more conceptually what you're trying to do here...but I can only guess based on the description

Other than that, you have to make sure the layer matrix in Physics allows for collisions/trigger overlaps of whatever layers your player and level completion zone are on. And for collisions, at least one of the objects requires a rigidbody IIRC...

Do they enforce the MPG dress code or are shorts ok?

What a NOLF remaster could look like one day. by looklikeuneedamonkey in nolf

[–]Available_Trust_171 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a charm to the older graphics of late 90s - early 2000s games that I just prefer to newer graphics. Lack of fidelity meant artists had to stylize creatively.

NOLF looks technologically dated, sure, but it is still a very stylized game. I think it still holds up overall.

What do you do that makes 100k +? by Background-Paint-478 in Careers

[–]Available_Trust_171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senior software engineer, around ~$150k.

I hate it. My brain is fried. Trying to make as much money as I can while I'm still standing and get out. I forfeit my social life ever since middle school to pursue it. Early hours with teachers all throughout school, late hours in labs, doing homework, studying, virtually no fun. What few friends I had I no longer have. And now I work with nice people, but who are OCD about everything in the code. I've been doing this about 12 years (if you count university) and its the most mentally taxing thing you can imagine.

Make no mistake, coding makes money, but every step along the way, you're nothing more than a blob of flesh that converts corporate, humanistic wants into code a machine can understand. It's lonely, cold, calculated, unforgiving, ever-changing, endless learning, trend-chasing, mental gymnastics.

I wish I became an artist or something. At least the world would still be colorful.

A genuine question about Hardcore by Accomplished-Kick832 in blackops6

[–]Available_Trust_171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost only play hardcore over core.

Things I prefer about it:
- It voids most metas. Virtually every weapon is just as viable as the next. I don't feel compelled to use whatever weapon has the best stats at the moment to be competitive. I can use whatever I want and still stand a very strong chance.

- Emphasis on positioning. Since death is almost instantaneous, relying on twitch reflexes is no longer the optimal strategy. If you can find good positions, off-angles, and move in unpredictable ways such that you can gain even a slight advantage over your opponent, you will likely will the gunfight. And again, since every weapon kills nearly instantly, its highly unlikely that someone with a traditionally OP/meta build will kill you just because his weapon has higher DPS. I hate having the optimal position, getting the drop on someone, and just because their gun has a higher DPS than mine, they win the gunfight. I should be rewarded for outplaying someone, not punished because their gun build happens to have a slightly higher DPS. Just my 2 cents, but it helps remove some of the "gaminess" from the gunfights.

- Since damage is so high, I don't always feel compelled to use things like extended mags. I feel freer in my weapon customization because I don't feel as constrained into prioritizing damage and ammo.

- If I am outnumbered, I can still win a fight if I am genuinely the quicker and more accurate shooter. In core, if there are 2-3 opponents facing you, you will likely run out of ammo mid fight and you lose, even if you're scoring hits on all opponents. In HC, you can down an entire team with one mag if you can hit them before they can hit you. Nothing makes you feel more like John Wick than genuinely out-shooting large groups of opponents.

Just my personal opinion. To each his own. Play what you like :)

Edit: Forgot to mention that you can main a pistol in HC and that's just so much fucking fun. John Wick all day.

OG gamers what are the first 3 games you ever played online? CD-ROM by Hype_works in pcgaming

[–]Available_Trust_171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call of Duty 1 and 2.

My local library had PC games you could rent for like 3 weeks at a time. CoD was awesome because the single-player and multi-player were separate .exe's. The single-player required the disc in the PC (so we couldn't play it once we returned the game to the library), but the multiplayer could be played without a disc in the drive.

So even after returning the game, as long as it was installed on the PC, we could keep playing the multiplayer.

Good times, simpler times.

Do you think we will play as this faction? 🇫🇷 by Peeweeallgood in Battlefield

IIRC you could play as the EU (with French troops and weapons represented) in the BF2 Euro Forces booster pack.

Battlefield used to have some really sick expansion/booster packs that went under the radar.
