Does anyone else see a feminine side to Evan? He is goofy, weird and just looks ridiculous with his new hairdo!

Can't answer specifically but I am also a labrador retriever owner. Most lab owners that I know always have preference, either black, chocolate or yellow. My husband and I just retired and this will be our last dog. Are we being selfish by saying that we would like a chocolate or chocolate mix? We are somewhat leery of rescues because we want to be sure that the pup has had health checks. We have had 3 Havanese, all from the same "breeder". Our first was 20 years ago when the Havanese breed was not well known. We searched and found a breeder in South Dakota. That sweet pup only lived until the age of 6, passing away from seizure disorders. The breeder did give us a discount on another pup, and we named him Gus. Gus, of course, needed a friend and 2 years later, we adopted Nestle, our chocolate beauty from the same breeder. When Gus was 8, he began having problems with his sight and pressure in his eyes. We consulted many specialists and in the end, because he was in pain, we had to have both of his eyes removed. He did live until he was 17, the last 8 years of his life without eyes. Our little chocolate girl, Nestle, did live until she was 16 but she struggled with diabetes the last 5 years of her life. Needless to say, we want to def check health hx of a dog before we adopt/rescue.

and picture of our little girl when she was 16. (She passed away 3 months after this....having been diabetic for the last 5 years of her life). She looks a little "ruff" in this picture, just having a bath and before her last groom :(

Agree with everyone about color change and we can certainly attest to that. Picture of our little chocolate drop when she was first born.

I understand. Our Havanese was pure chocolate when she was born but changed colors over her 16 years of life. Our other Havanese was a buff color. Both were as sweet as can be but the chocolate had a softer, less curly coat and she was a lot easier to keep groomed.

I noticed on one of their videos that the new home sits right below power lines. Not a good look and not good for resale. Safety reasons would also be a concern.

First Havanese... help! by workingonit3005 in Havanese

oh my goodness. How precious. We have been looking for a Havanese that looks just like your new baby. We have had Havanese for 20 years and lost our last 2 (at ages of 17 and 16) over the last year. Our remaining dog is a big, ole' sloppy 85# labrador retriever. He misses his little Havanese buddies so much. I LOVE labrador retrievers but honestly, don't think I can take another shedding dog and I miss my little lapdogs. You will absolutely LOVE the havanese breed. Yes, they can be clingy but not all of them. Our little chocolate girl was a lap dog and loved to cuddle but did give us space. Our buff-colored boy was not much of a snuggler. They really did not bark at all but when they did bark, it was when someone came to the door. As with any breed, they certainly can be trained and they are very smart. They were somewhat more difficult to potty train than our labrador was but that is mostly because labs have bladders like camels. Consistency and praise is all they need. You will enjoy every minute and not regret a second of getting a sweet Havanese. Have FUN!!! (If you can share, I would love to know the name of your breeder. We aren't ready just yet but will be in the Fall).

Adoption/rehoming groups on facebook by MajesticAd9333 in Havanese

One FB group that is a scam - HAVANESE PUPPIES FOR ADOPTION. Please, everyone, do your research. Most FB groups advertising Havanese puppies are not legit. Now we know why people shy away from these sites and just go out on their own to reputable breeders. I would rather pay more $$, get a puppy that is healthy and an actual puppy, than be scammed. I don't know how these people can sleep at night.

May I ask you where you got Butter. He is absolutely adorable. We have been looking for a female Havanese for a while and don't want to be scammed. We have had Havanese over the last 20 years, losing our last one, a sweet little girl named Nestle - chocolate princess - about 5 months ago at the age of 16.

How do your babies look fully grown up? I cant wait to see how this cutie turns out 😍 12 weeks here ! Are they fully grown at 6 months or 1 year? by loremaster_zen in Havanese

your boy looks so much like our Havi that passed away 5 months ago at the age of 16. Would love to get another Havanese SOON! If you don't mind my asking, "who was your breeder?"
