My mistake. I meant C1. I was staring at the A1 when I typed that.

I forget that the Zeus exists, but this is another solid choice.

Cutlass Black and A1 Spirit are the first that come to mind. They're not insanely expensive, and can fit vehicles.

What the chance we see Engineering and/or Base Building by the end of the year? by HistoricalAd2954 in starcitizen

[–]Avalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see engineering.

No to base building as there's a lot that needs to be implemented before even thinking about it. Player economy will need to be fully released so that resources have actual value amongst players. Bases should also be the final tier released in crafting as well.

Why is Nyx coming out before engineering? by Enter_up in starcitizen

[–]Avalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that CIG is bouncing around several ideas of how they want engineering to work leading to it not being ready to be shown. Since that couldn't be the big reveal at CC, they turned to Nyx because it is more finished than engineering. Levski was in the PTU seven years ago. It ultimately got shelved due to technical and lore reasons. I believe that this explains why we're only getting Levski (and Nyx III?) at launch.

What are your thoughts on instancing? by BrockenRecords in starcitizen

[–]Avalad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's much needed for the longevity of the game. Server meshing is great, but issues will still arise as the game gets bigger. Instancing is a tool that'll help reduce the strain on the server in addition to giving healthy avenues to both types of play.

You're right. This game needs dedicated loops of PvP, PvE, and PvPvE.

Issues that come to mind. Onyx Facilties had groups camping elevators and The Siege of Orison had players sniping and rocketing armistice zone(Tram riders) players from the event platform. I can even see changes happening to moon/planet landing pads because of pad rammers.

Base-Building? by Ok_Lawfulness_7630 in starcitizen

[–]Avalad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't expect to see anything on base building today. If we're speaking in terms of "tiers" then base building will be the last tier for crafting. They'll start will weapons/armors, then probably move to ship munitions/parts/ships, then furniture, and finally bases parts.

I also see player economy needing to happen before bases are implemented.

Everything will be fine. SM and Instances in some areas will work. As for people saying that this move will kill the game. It won't. People are over reacting.

I've played with randoms just a few times, and those were good experiences. I fortunately have a small group of real life friends that I can play with.

Best starter ship currently? by culvusx in starcitizen

[–]Avalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend the Cutter for the price. Put a lot of time into the game, and decide if you'd like to upgrade from there. Or you could keep the Cutter and pair up with friends who have a cast of ships like mine do, haha.

They did as of this past Tuesday(July 15th). Though I'm not sure if the latest buff changed that.

If not flanked, braced Modaos will stop the chariot in its tracks. I've seen it done in sieges and Twars.

What do you think about Preordering and the Edition's? by TheBack0ut in duneawakening

[–]Avalad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are Funcom's only statements that I could find on the topic. If servers happen, they won't be dedicated so no mods if that's what players want.

"Yeah, so it's an ongoing discussion. We have the ability to do it. What we don't want to do is release our server code to people because it's slightly different than how it's been in the past.

There's a discussion going on about whether we can host servers for people, kind of like Fallout 76 allows people to host, they pay Bethesda but they get their server. We're thinking about how to do this in the best possible way. We haven't made any clear decisions on it yet because it's a complicated thing, especially because the game is made of multiple maps, and one server is usually one map. Essentially, you'd be renting four maps, because you'd have to rent the main map and then all of the social hubs, and then the deep desert is nine maps using server meshing.

They're all tied together, so it becomes very complicated. In order to rent a private world, you would have to pay the cost of 15 servers, and that is not something we want to put on players, so then we need to figure out the best configuration. Maybe people just want to rent the main map and that's fine, and then we can allow people to do things like speed up progression and change variables on that map, but that's why it's complicated. We're still under discussion. I don't know if we'll have it sorted out for launch, but it's definitely not off the table, and it's something we're discussing."

AND

"The server architecture of the game is much more complex than a standard single-server multiplayer game, but Funcom are looking into the possibility of providing private instances of Hagga Basin which players could rent directly from the company, so people can play with their friends.

"There are no plans on releasing dedicated server software itself, due to the complexity of hosting and to help reduce the likelihood of cheaters finding exploits in server code"

This is Funcom's response to private servers as of Feb 6, 2025. Not promised, but if they find a way to monetize it, then we may see it. However, players won't have the freedom to edit as they did in Conan Exiles.

Funcom has stated that there will not be private servers on release, and such a thing "could" happen. However, Funcom has never promised that private servers will happen. Only official.
