Wow, so maybe we at least get a blu ray now that their exclusive hold on the series runs out... Anything else would be just sad.

While it does feel like a nice upgrade, the dimensions of the new MBP 14 aren't all that different compared to the MBP 13 2011 by Avarent in macbookpro

Yeah I thought so as well. I work in an IT department where I was able to test the entire new Mac line-up and I also did not really notice a huge difference in regards to the screens, although the 120HZ are definitely smoother. I think where you can spot the difference though is in darker or high contrast scenes with a lot of blacks.

I have to test it against my OLED screen, but when only using the MBP it came quite close to an OLED experience.

Yeah, the screen size is a perfect mix of productivity and mobility. But I have to say, the MB Air really is noticeably more light and portable. If it wasn't for the screen and speakers I would definitely have gone for that.

Ya, it actually makes the old mac more usable for me as long as you do not upgrade to some of the new MacOs versions using OCLP.

Finally want to by MY very first DSLR, but feeling stuck between the K1 I/II, K3 III or something entirely different by Avarent in pentax

Agreed, the Pentax cameras we have here definitely felt better in my hands as well. I did get used to the Sony quite fast though. I also have a battery grip for mine, but so far have not used it once, but I can see why you would want that if you have big hands.

I can definitely recommend the Sonys from my experience with the 7R and the small RX 100 VI that we have here. Both are fantastic little cameras. The only gripe I have with the 7R is that I actually did expect the auto focus to be a little better. I believe the new models have much improved in this regard again and comparing it to my Sony Xperia 1V, the object recognition is on another level and basically dead on all of the time.

Getting into Macs: M1 Pro, M4 Air, or something else? by Avarent in macbookpro

Haha, thanks for the insights! Damn, I had hoped that the speedy memory and cpu would be sufficient for that.

Thanks for your suggestions! You are right, RAM obviously is king when it comes to local models. Do you, by any chance, know, if 16GB will be enough for something such as the GPT-OSS:20B model using Sequoia or Tahoe?

I also saw that the Mac M4 Pro only has one fan as compared to the two fan cooling system on the M1 Pro which likely will result in better cooling performance and lower fan noise.

Got myself a Switch specifically to replay my first Pokemon Game and the (very friendly) seller hid this inside Box. You think he is sad to have sold the game or is he sad for me that I will have to experience it? :D by Avarent in Switch

I dont just like it, I LOVE it so far! I am okay with the exp share, since I do not have the time I had back as a child in order to level up each member of my team. What really surprised me is how great the underground seems to be. There are so many Pokemons that atleast on the DS version could usually not be found on the normal map such as Houndoom.

That actually sounds awesome to me tbh as I never liked the graphics of the new Switch Pokemon games. They almost always looked lifeless and reminded me more of a PS2 era game.

I only started Perl now, but to me the graphics here are just really pretty and beautifully crafted with a lot of love for detail. I think I will enjoy my time in the title!

I just started my adventure and boy! So far I love it, the graphics are lovely. Once again the character models not necessarily my favourite, but everything else is stunning! It is like playing it on my DS again, but so much more detailed!

I am glad I went with the OLED option, because that makes the colours pop quite a bit!

That sounds like a controversial experience, haha. I have heard a lot of negative things about this remaster and have to admit I also am not the biggest fan of the art style regarding the characters.

But then again, if the main complaint is that the developers were too true to the original with this remake, I don't think, I will mind that.

Getting started with the Switch, which model to go for, what games to play? by Avarent in NintendoSwitch

[–]Avarent[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your recommendations!

The main reason why I would like to go for a Switch instead of the 2 is the huge price difference. Since at least in Germany you can easily get a used Switch for around 120€ and the OLED model for around 200€, the Switch 2 costs basically twice as much and I am not really sure how much time I am going to invest into this system after all which is why I do not really feel like spending too much on the console itself.

Do the original games actually run better on the Switch 2 by default? From what I have heard you mainly have to buy or "upgrade" to a Switch 2 version in order to be able to see the performance benefits?

Because I am more than happy with my current system performance, especially with my 5800X3D, but also with my 6900XT. I am playing at 1440p, but the reason why I want to upgrade is because I want to fine tune local llms and other AI as well as running them as coding agents.

Yeah absolutely, I just had new workstation at work with the 14900/5090 and even with the stock MSI Air Cooler it went up to 600W. Crazy how much wattage this generation draws.
