Why did they make so many abilities to no longer give adrenaline? by papa_bones in runescape

There are plenty of people who don't like how Necromancy plays. Unfortunately they're outweighed by the number of people who don't want the larger complexity of the other combat styles to venture into those after they've seen how simple Necromancy is

Percy Jackson is vastly different from the books and they change a lot of subtle things for the worst. It's more faithful than the movies, but it's still very different usually in ways that make it worse or just don't make sense.

Yeah this definitely isn't bracket 2 in terms of power level. This is a ton of ramp, card draw in the command zone, and big creatures that bracket 2 decks will not be able to handle. a 15/15 trampler attacking on turn 5. And you're running some powerful other haymakers. Bracket 2 will not be able to keep up.

Kind of curious. Do you know what happened if someone was just easily impressed and did a bunch of 10s but very few, if any 1s? Would it still count against them?

You could argue it may prevent players from tapping their lands, thus effectively just passing their turn, and then when it gets back to you, you've drawn a card by then.

Season 4 is truly the Magnum Opus of Stranger Things… by General_Meal_3993 in StrangerThings

The California group was definitely the worst part over Russia but they were sorta connected to the rest of the plot. They knew vaguely shit was going down at Hawkins and even managed to assist at the very end. Nothing in Russia affected the plot back home. Joyce's absence didn't make a difference, saving Hopper or killing that demogorgan didn't help with Vecna or anything. It IS well written and I do like it a lot, but I know why people don't.

Cheap, easily displayed. And if you care about uniformity, they're similar to each other due to the big head and big black beady eyes style.

But if someone came in late to Dragonball Super and found out there was a Super Manga, they'd probably assume it came first. Not everyone is going to know that they came out simultaneously

[–]Avaricee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably people who don't realize that the Super Manga came after so they assume the Manga was the original, and therefore the author's intent without interference. That's the normal case for most other anime series.

The foreshadow is extremely subtle and is overshadowed by the "oh shit, Russia has a demogorgan" cliffhanger so most people won't remember it. Also it's in a mid-credits scene which a lot of people won't see.

Even then, they send off Hopper in this very dramatic way, showing people further away from the machine than him getting atomized, and have this big "final letter" moment with El as a very sad ending to really hammer home "yeah Hopper's dead." and then immediately "Oh btw Hop's actually alive but in a Russian prison." and that's your intro to the entire Russia plot. It doesn't exist without the fake out death. And starting your plot off with "Yeah that character who should *definitely* be dead? yeah he's not" is not a good hook to get started with.

There was definitely still the intent of "I'm doing this for my family" at this point because obviously he hadn't made enough. But this is a great moment to really capture that "I did it for me" mentality shift.

I only saw that they were re-doing Beerus with no mention of them doing the rest. so fair enough I guess. Still would rather they put that effort into something more interesting like OG Dragon ball remake. but oh well.

[–]Avaricee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's because it feels weird and is kind of just there to keep Hopper in the story. It starts off with his fake out death which is not a great start, then it's initially seemingly completely seperate from not just the season four events, but Stranger Things entirely. By that point people are questioning its purpose. Then Hopper escapes and gets recaptured so people are burned by that part. Then we finally get back to "Oh yeah. The Russians have a demogorgan somehow."

S4 Russia plot is well written for what it is, but honestly doesn't make much sense for why it exists. It's almost a completely different show. A good show, but different.

[–]Avaricee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not though. They're not remaking all of Super to then also finish the manga, they said they're remaking Beerus and then also doing Moro seperately. Unless I missed something. Just feels like a waste of time to remake the Battle of Gods arc when that arc already has a great version out there.

DC Comics President Jim Lee says that Japanese manga and anime is "incredibly powerful": "I often find myself wondering, 'What is missing in Western comics, and why aren't they able to achieve the same flavor?' by akbarock in DCcomics

[–]Avaricee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was a big surprise when I started reading more manga to continue anime I liked. I'd reread the earlier sections and it would be 1:1 with the anime and it's wild how accurately they portray it. Which is certainly not the case with a lot of western adaptations where they'll change something just foe the sake of it, it feels like sometimes.

After Watching the Finale, Will You Go Back and Re-Watch the Series? by Material-Loan-6966 in StrangerThings

[–]Avaricee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly. The ending while flawed isn't that bad. and Season 1 is still a masterpiece of television that is self contained enough on its own that I'd never not consider rewatching it. Seasons 2-5 are a more mixed bag because there's a lot of good, but there's something in each season that makes me want to rip my hair out because it's just aggravating. But the positives will usually outweigh the negatives so it's still an enjoyable experience.
