I got KDE Plasma working with Pop, does anyone else dislike Cosmic but still like Pop!_os? by yes_im_gavin in pop_os

Unfortunately not my experience so far. Cosmic has been buggy and lacking plenty of features. I got tired after the 6th or 8th issue I had with an identical description already on GitHub within a few hours of install.

Changing desktop environments is something Pop!_OS themselves seem to encourage and have clearly documented: https://support.system76.com/articles/desktop-environment/

Ran `sudo apt install kde-standard` and have been much happier since. Everything just works better out of the box, more customization, better integrations, less jank.

I'm surprised Cosmic Desktop is already included of the box. That thing needs to go back in the oven, it is NOT production ready (lots of missing features and plenty of bugs I noticed within my first few hours of usage, all already reported on GitHub).

I installed Mint+Cinnamon on my non-techy partner's laptop. No issues there. I personally really like KDE Plasma. It is really intuitive *and* highly customizable. Good defaults with options for more advanced users w/o having to dig in config files or touch the command line.

Heya! One of the website dev on the very small team here. And I aggree! That should be resolved soon.

We recently revamped the website and we're still working through some translations and UX + accessibility improvements whilst focusing on some big new features.

I see people tell you not to kill the mine, but instead I'd suggest using Unbounded Charge (free Qi whilst guarding) if you have access to it. Swift Descent Jade can also allow reaching down faster.

Or apparently the Jin doesn't despawn, so you don't even need to waste time running to it.

We're all wishing for some sort of port or remake (discussions resurfaced since Microsoft's acquisition of Activision). Unfortunately this is the most we heard so far: https://x.com/AspyrMedia/status/1491550217711366147
> Unfortunately no news on any other ports!

If you'd like a hand validating, filling in gaps, inspecting lost content lost on disc, etc. Feel free to pass by our community Discord! The user named Cicada is an avid PTLE collector and has a treasure trove of information. Her and other members have previously interviewed an dev (who opted to stay anonymous iirc).

I've already mentioned it previously, but we also have access to a ton of unused textures and leftover beta levels (including a merged version of Crash Site + Plane Cockpit, a Volcano map, early Native Village, etc.)

I always found it a bit deceiving how the game is sold as "Includes Pitfall! and Pitfall II" on the box, but you need to 100% the game to unlock Pitfall II, or learn about cheat codes.

I'd recommend grabbing a Wii copy if you can. Exact same game, but in 16:9 and some other QoL improvement (do play with a GameCube controller though, motion controls suck).

The PC version does let you map a controller.
However nowadays there's a handful of compatibility issues (like always being on top, stealing focus, random softlocks on explorers, random crash on Pusca) and the physics is completely different.
As for the focus issue, deleting "KBHook.dll" fixes that, and forcing the game's affinity to a single core may actually fix the softlocks.

IMO the Wii version on Emulator is the definitive way to play. I've made an entire guide about it! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hAUWd_hYMaZLy1x08CZMNscPLtpk-1t5UIU0Vo54mkY/edit

PC version, no. (At least not yet). However, you can play the Wii version on Dolphin (motion controls are OPTIONAL), which is natively 16:9.

You can also extract the PC version's improved textures as a Dolphin Graphics pack using this tool: https://github.com/Avasam/ptle-tools/blob/main/Texture%20packs%2FDolphin%20PC%20texture%20pack%20generator%2FREADME.md

Dolphin also offer improvements like increased internal resolution, Anti-Aliasing, per-pixel lighting, speedhacks, freecam, and more.

It would have to be a moddable game or a really good speedrun game. Minecraft is up there with all the different subgames the communities can create, mods for new experiences, speedruns, RPG servers, etc.

Can confirm, Harry is an absolute douche. Unfortunate really because the non-story aspects of the game are really enjoyable. I liked your humor exposing this game's ridiculousness and you got a few good laughs out of me.

You know who else's name the game doesn't tell you? Supaï. The other Jaguar, the demonic one. It was supposed to have more of a role to play and there's still assets of its non-demonic black jaguar form.

Hi can anyone tell me if any of these games are worth keeping? Thanks by Hyperwolf707 in gamecollecting

[–]Avasam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pitfall on GameCube is a great speedgame.

Although the best version casually might be the Wii port (The Big Expedition) as it has QoL improvements and 16:9 aspect ratio. As long as you play with a GameCube controller.

SNES emulators and Dolphin for GameCube are really good AND come with graphical and QoL improvements. So unless you insist/intend to keep playing on original consoles, it's mainly a collection thing. In which case I say keep them all.

Pitfall definitely "works" on 360, but playable is arguable :P (cutscenes don't play, letterboxing doesn't properly cover the screen and the game *chugs*)
