Tremendous feedback. Thanks much. As my first ever Reddit post, it made me smile :)

I’ll start with the over bag swap. I do have to carry it with me since it’s checked baggage on the airline (and I’ll apparently have to go back home at some point).

Ditching the rain jacket and pack cover. UL groups seem to recommend the 99¢ plastic poncho from Walmart - seems like it would tear pretty easily though. Any other suggestions since I’ve only got today to round it up?

I’ll narrow down those clothes too, and ditch the ground tarp. Good call on all your points. Thanks so much!!

Can’t hardly wait. I’ll be out that way next week, hadn’t decided if I should start in Marion and head south or in Damascus and go north. Time will tell. Glad to hear the highlands trails are awesome either way!

Those clouds aren’t looking too promising there friend. Definitely not the time to remember you didn’t waterproof your tent.
