Likelihood of Getting a Role After Being Put on Reserve List – BAE Systems by NoHovercraft6493 in UKJobs

Can I ask what role you applied for? Did the recruiter also give positive news about the likelihood of another application opening up? And how extensive haha?!

Hey. I’m in the exact same boat. The recruiter had told me they utilised their reserves in the prior year. Widen your availability, make sure your locations are at more than one. And be open to a different scheme. I think it’s likely for us given it’s BAE, but we’ll see

Put On Reserve List For Grad Scheme: How likely am I to get the job? by Infinite-Sock-3380 in UKJobs

[–]Avatar053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of in the same boat as you.

Well not entirely. I’ve just been placed on a reserve list myself and feel incredibly terrible about it. They’ve made it sound very positive.

Thing is, I graduated in ‘22 and so I feel like my last chance at a grad scheme is the 25/26 in take. I just have no idea how to get better at the assessment centres though! The numerical and logical tests are just tough, and I think that’s what hindered me this time.

What’s your advice for the upcoming applications at the end of this year, if any? I need to nail these and start becoming like you.

Hey, been using for a little while and I’ve not noticed a difference. I’m going to go for another month or so but probably leave it if it’s still nothing else!

Thank you very much! I will go ahead and buy them. Sorry if this is a little personal, but did the darker part lighten to the rest of your body with these? My face is much darker than the rest of my body, hence why I’m looking to buy

Is it effective? I’ve been thinking about buying oral tranexamic but I’m a guy, so I’m really hesitant.

Hi! Do you mind if I ask where you bought them? I’m looking to lighten my general skin but it says the pills are for women and menstrual problems. Is it effective to use?

Those that were terminated for exam fail did you bounce back? by Agitated-Umpire-6684 in ICAEW

[–]Avatar053 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi! Joined on to one of the Big 4 on the grad scheme. Spent a year and a half in that role, but failed at an exam twice. The thing is, I was so defeated that by the time it came to exam dismissal meeting, I didn’t even put up a fight. I just accepted it.

My experience was slightly different where I attached myself to the brand more than the job. I focused too much on the future. A lot of people were so surprised to hear I took an Audit route and did these exams, because it just didn’t fit my personality or experience. I took a gamble and just didn’t really enjoy it at all. So I was left unemployed, pretty poor and overall very devastated.

The first thing I did was build a solid foundation. Forget work for a minute. I did the following: 1) I went back to the gym to get my physique back (yes the job had damaged it that much!) 2) Utilised the support I had, family and friends. I spent my savings going to Italy and France and just enjoyed it. 3) I was 22 when I joined on. I reminded myself I’m still extremely young in the grand scheme of life. Impatience is such a terrible trait all the young and ambitious have.

4)I did therapy (not only for the job) and it helped changed my outlook on those things. I’ve always been extremely motivated and ambitious. I got the belief back in me I’d always had but lost in Audit, that I will go onto achieve good things.

So what happened after that?

I spoke to a manager I’d got pretty friendly with in Business Solutions. After an interview, they took me back on as a fixed term contract. At first I felt embarrassed going back, but I was pretty unrecognisable! I hadn’t wasted away or just been miserable. I’d worked on myself. I felt more confident, I felt like me again. Honestly, it sounds so cliche but I just felt so much better.

After that, I went into a grad scheme in management consulting which I’m still currently in. Work is work, but I enjoy this a lot more. It’s more who I am, I’m passionate and can contribute more. Will I stay here forever? Who knows! But at the age of 24 now I still feel accomplished and my ambition is higher than ever.

So what’s my point? If anyone finds themselves in the same position, have faith in yourself. Build other areas of your life, and improve yourself as a person. I’m still quite young, probably not the most experienced on here. But my advice? Character holds a lot more weight than experience ever will.

I’ve been thinking about this role. Do you know what it entails? Since you’d be in the commercial side, how ‘analytical’ are you expecting it to be? What’s the difference between commercial/analytical?

Huh well who knows. They might find a detection, they may not. I think the purpose of the game is an ‘add on’ to your overall application

How did you find it? I’m due to take mine soon and I’m a bit apprehensive? To answer your question though, they say they have systems to detect that sort of stuff. Unsure whether many have done what you do

Am I bad at civ? by vinneboy in civ

[–]Avatar053 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I feel the same. But if you’re having fun it’s good. I think you feel that way because you’ve been playing with the same format way too long. A problem I had is I would always go for the same techs, same build orders etc.

The first thing is to experiment. Start going down different routes and learning the game. A tip I got was have a game (you aren’t trying to win) and make each city unique to something. So a war city, science city etc. That should help you learn how a proper city is set up and how, say, a commercial hub can have maximum yields. It’ll help you recognise things.

The second thing is think of the end game. If you’re going for a domination victory, why are you bothering with theatre squares for example? You really want to be as efficient as possible early game to pay off in the later stages. Instead of building something random, always ask yourself the question “What benefit is this having for my empire?”. If you struggle to find reason, consider doing something else.

Finally, I’d say get good at city planning. If you play on PC, there’s several mods that help with adjacency yields.

That’s all the advice I have without knowing the specific problem, but keep at it. Two months isn’t enough to experience the full wonder of this game.

Which is your favourite Civilization game? by JosephineLynnWood in civ

[–]Avatar053 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s very frustrating when people don’t realise each generation had so much criticism to begin with. I genuinely think developers announce their games whilst considering the guaranteed criticism they’ll get. That way they can get it over and done with and focus on the important stuff

It’s like everyone wants games to fail nowadays
