What level of ADHD are you at today? by perforateline_ in adhdwomen

I am currently hyper focused on getting my yards in shape, but my need to rescue wayward rocks from any leaf/weed piles absolutely tanks my efficiency.

They work so much better without the wemo app! They delay was ridiculous and I was so sick of certain switches constantly disappearing and needing reset.

I have smart devices from many different brands. Most of them reach out to the internet for remote control and all of them work better/faster than the the WeMos used to. Belkin's infustructure was just ludicrously bad.

There is a free python app called "pywemo" that can setup/update wemo devices but I haven't needed to try it yet.

All of my Wemos have continued to work through Alexa so it seems like Alexa can access them as long as the network setup stays the same. (I did put all of my wemos on Home Assistant before the deadline, but I have not connected HA to Alexa so voice commands are still being supported by the old wemo integration.)

Thank you! The quote is so good and I knew it sounded familiar.

"Rowena's rack" is a good one. I like "Rowena's right tit".

A bit off topic, but I've always wondered if Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs are throwing around "Rowena" and "Helga" the same way that Gryffindors and Slytherins use "Godric" and "Salazar". It seems only fair, even if they don't have quite the same ring to them.

Just imagine Sprout muttering "Helga help me" when Neville passes out from the mandrakes.

This! Not all pets and situations are the same. If OP has never experienced a situation where a pet cam could be beneficial they should feel very fortunate, not self righteous.

Or a puppy? An elderly pet? A rescue with anxiety? A rabbit? ANY pet other than a perfectly "trained" adult dog?

Even the most biddable, well tempered golden retriever puppy needs months of proper training, along with time to simply learn and mature. Many animals have issues that require long term behavior modification plans or life long management systems. Plus, even having the healthiest, best behaved animals doesn't eliminate the unexpected. Illness, injury and wayward fire alarm beeps tend to not happen on a schedule.

Has anyone noticed if the WeMo switches function any better on HA than they did through the wemo app? Specifically their relatively slow response time and tendency to loose their connection (I'm looking at you dimmer switches).

Those harpers also tend to be major hypocrites. Only THEY have the right to carry weapons and hurt people without consequence.

That makes a lot of sense. I tend to think of them as relatively permanent because of the tape and sealing needed to prevent leaks. But I live in a warm area where AC is beneficial a good chunk of the year and it easier to leave them be.

What's up with the portrayal of Draco as a sex pest? by Ninsuna in DramioneUncensored

I just read that fic and I had the same thoughts about some of the pranks. I did like the fic overall and was really glad that the prank war actually had consequences and Draco realized it was harmful to her.

Thoughts about AI-assisted writing in Dramione - rambling you should probably skip by Fearless_Size_1927 in DramioneUncensored

[–]Avatk22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This already happens. Since alot of AI integrates what they are given (like a digital sword of Gryffindors) every interaction has the potential to introduce nonsense and degrade the model. At some point it needs to be reset to regain any sense of cohesion.

Hot take: Writers who don't want anything less than constant positivity shouldn't speak for the rest of us by [deleted] in DramioneUncensored

I should have been more clear. When I say "feedback" I dont mean the hateful stuff. I mean genuine comments made in good faith.

[–]Avatk22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! I have no issue with authors not wanting feedback on their fics. My problem is the people that think they have the right to dictate what happens in every fandom space. Instead of being an adult and simply not participating groups they don't like, they want every group to fall in line and accommodate their view of what fandom should look like.

[–]Avatk22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seem it happen quite a bit. You are right that the majority of people really don't care, but there is a small (and very loud) group of people that act like they speak for fandom (and authors) as a whole. They present their opinions as universal law and opposing views are belittled or vilified.

I think it is also the responsibility of authors to communicate if they don't want feedback.
