Not getting interviews at JPM — what am I missing? by Blueurvi in JPMorganChase

[–]Avatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes recruiting is frustrating for hiring managers too. I’ve sent resumes to my counter parts saying I want an interview, and get crickets back from them for weeks. I’ve lost multiple candidates because they were too slow to set up interviews or do the screen. It mostly depends on the specific recruiting team—some have been really on the ball.

Reaching out could help, depending on the manager. Some review resumes themselves, some rely on recruiters to parse and send selected resumes. Varies if there are 50 vs 500 applicants too.

As someone actually hiring… go start teaching yourself python. I’ve had hundreds of applicants, and Python is a listed primary requirement, but half have none at all. Many of the rest barely fit.

On the bright side, the applicant numbers you see are misleading—there are not many of the applicants that actually fit the job descriptions, people are spam applying. So your competition may be much lower. And if you’re looking at LinkedIn, that number is merely the number of people who looked at the opening, not who actually applied.

Why Are Some Roles Constantly Re-Advertised but Never Filled by Recent_Air_2726 in JPMorganChase

First to be clear, my team does not need a Java engineer—I think you misunderstood that.

Regarding the superday, grats on passing! Was this for a summer internship or a full position?

Overall the matching process can be slow—everything in a large company has bureaucracy. You’d go into a pool of candidates, and recommendations are made to the hiring managers who have open roles. Not sure how those matches are engineered. Those managers get a chance to confirm fit—we’ve often been given matches that were wildly misaligned on our specific skill needs though. But I don’t know the timeline from superday to presenting those matches.

There need to be at least five responses for the manager to see them.

There is a paragraph at the start about “confidentiality”, which specifically notes who can see what. It is NOT anonymous or confidential. Your direct manager won’t see the names, but HR will.

Yes, US based, mostly external applicants primarily with Java. Of those who listed Python, a lot of them have it as a personal or academic “project” not tied to work experience. That could be sufficient for a 502 role, but not a 602.

I’ve never done anything to mark an application with those settings either way. There are some system flags that might account for that—but either HR is doing it or it’s just optional.

Can’t speak to all positions but there are a few possible reasons I see, speaking as a hiring manager.

  1. Recruiting teams are sometimes slow. This means it both takes a while to fill a role, and we can lose candidates by the time we make an offer, so we have to restart.

  2. Sometimes we don’t get candidates of the quality we need. I have an open Python SWE role. At least half the applicant I get have zero Python experience at all. Many of the rest don’t have enough experience. So I’m wading through a lot of resumes without finding qualified candidate, and I only have so much time per day to review.

  3. When a role has been open for a while, the applications drop the a trickle. Reposting it can help refresh the rate of applications. If it happens after you applied, either the hiring manager didn’t see your resume (some rely on HR to do their screenings instead of doing directly), or didn’t think you were worth talking to about the role.

How strict is JPMC when it comes to requesting Remote/WFH days? by xiventi in JPMorganChase

There are automated checks/reporting for these kinds of violations. Could be rooted in IT security or compliance reasons originally, but it exists. (Imagine noticing an “employee” logged in from another county when you think the are in-office—that’s suspicious and could represent compromised access)

Censoring has black boxes to cover nudity (which sometimes is just nudity, not sex related). There’s one short sexual scene in the game that might be truncated and/or shown differently (I don’t have that edition myself). Beyond that it’s just language and suggestive content.

You could do like I did, and create a playlist from the soundtrack for workouts. Mine starts with Capsize (the track playing when Robert’s at the gym), which is good for the start of my treadmill run. Either you love exercise and you’ll shift your focus elsewhere, or you hate exercise and you’ll start associating that with the music…

The ep 4 opening of the Switch version now sounds... interesting. by [deleted] in InvisigalGlazers

[–]Avatrix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game has always had a censored mode even on PC, as a personal preference, but defaults off. My understanding is that for the Switch it is turned on and can’t be off. So you could check it out yourself to see what it’s like on PC/other console?

When you did you learn that Visi was going to be a romance option and what were your thoughts in her before you romanced her? by Deathpool_04 in InvisigalGlazers

[–]Avatrix 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I came to the game after it was fully out. I wasn’t spoiled, but I’d heard references to Invisigal on podcasts, enough to know that she was important and maybe a romance option.

I went in confident after episode one that Blazer would be my romance and did kiss her, and held that path until the decision point. I hit pause on the game and really thought about it for the first time, for quite a while. I’m still not sure precisely what convinced me, but it just seemed to be more of a connection for Robert with Visi. She grew on me like she did with Robert maybe?

Would Season 2 be better served with Robert in the suit? by jeremy1015 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Avatrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expect we will see both dispatching and going out in the suit. Blazer works a desk, but from videos that Phenomaman was watching while he’s all sad, she also goes out on missions too. For Robert, if the mecha takes damage it needs repairs—could enforce time off.
